I was in a local tack shop when a person I very vaguely know came in to buy some feed and bits for their horses. they started by telling the shop owner and myself about their new horse (sounded very nice), they continued to buy a whole range of new tack and bits, they then brought some vey high end feed. All of this was well and good until they started laughing about the fact that this was all on the tax payer, and (I quote) 'thank you Mr Tax payer!', as they proceeded to talk about all the benefits they claim and keep the 4 horses of this. Both of them are apparently unable to work due to 'incapacity' but regularly ride.
I work for the public sector and support vulnerable families, I have had to support the cutting of key services due to the lack of money in this country. I am all for benefits going to people who need them and are in vulnerable situations but this just made me plain angry, neither this person or their partner work and out of their very own mouth have no intention on doing so but claim enough that they can afford to keep four nice horses. I work and save hard to keep my 1 horse, I think horses are a luxury, and I believe benefits should be used to allow people a healthy and safe level of living not too pay for luxuries!

I know in reality this is nothing to do with me but it really irked me!

Look you I am not against anyone claiming bebfit - my fella just spent 6 weeks out of work - only basic job seekers allowance and applied for job after job ( he now is working again woo hooo ) - but this abuse of the system amkes me sooooo fecking angry. Please help the people who need it but jesus 4 horses - i struggle to keep one and its the tax payer the are abusing no one else - yep like you im angry
 
Report them. People like this pi$$ me right off.

They can't be that much in pain if they manage 4 horses. They need to get off their lazy backsides, get a job and leave welfare for those who need it. :mad:
 
it annoys me that the majority of us work long hours whilst some sit on their backsides and get more in benefits than we earn :mad:

It honestly makes me wonder why I bother putting up with crap from people (unfortunately, part of my horrible job and I don't get to shout back :rolleyes:) when there are people out there doing nothing when they are fit to work.

Obviously there are people out there who rely on benefits due to ill health, being made redundant etc but some people are taking the mick and getting away with it.

so yeah.. I would probably have been annoyed because as much as I loathe my job, I rely on it to fund my expensive hobby :rolleyes:
 
I am seriously considering it. Bloomin angry with myself as well for saying something there and then, I just stood with my mouth wide open totally gobsmacked!
 
Yes of course i would be angry!!! Why brag and boast about it when they know full well they are probably falsley claiming benefits! I have people who live by me middle aged never worked but can afford to run two decent cars (never worked in 20 year) my dog broke through her very old fence and wanted me to pay! it makes my blood boil i have four jobs to pay for my horses and dogs, work every hour god sends. im afraid i would be on the benefit cheats website reporting them, they are stealing money off people who really need it and whos benefits are getting cut every year!
 
My brother in law is very much like this. He's not ever worked in the 7 years I have known him. He spends all his benefits on fishing equipment. I also frequently see his fb status updates are along the lines of 'I'm bored' etc. It makes me so cross! My husband and I work our behinds off and literally work hand to mouth. I really want to say something but know it will just end in a feud. My husbands sister thinks the sun shines out of his...!
 
Report them!! I know someone like this and it makes you wonder who is the mug going out to work each day and they sit around doing nothing and posting pictures of their holidays abroad on fb all paid for by the taxpayer, grrr!
 
I would report them! People like this make me very very angry!! I won't get started really as I would rant on for ages but it makes me sick that I (and many others) work their a*ses off to pay for things and scrimp and save for stuff yet others have the gall to cheat the system (and openly it seems in this case!) Will be their own fault if they are 'found out' if they're happy to blab about it. I actually don't really see how they could afford it all on benefits, I know I would struggle, I struggle now so to have 4 horses I would want to knwo HOW??!!
 
There is a woman along the road from me like this, she is on disabililty benefits but still manages to keep a horse at livery. She hacks past me early in the mornings just as I am leaving for work.......if you stop and talk to her she boasts about how she is paid by the taxpayer.....completely ridiculous!
 
I would report them too. Aside from the fact that it's those of us working our @sses off to keep people like them, those in genuine need of these benefits are suffering as they are put through the ringer to be able to get the help they need.

To be honest I'd phone in in a flash. Most of us work hard to try & afford our way of life. It isn't easy & certainly not getting any easier in this current climate. My hay bill for the next 12 months has gone up by around £500 & I've got to find that extra from somewhere. These spongers have been cheating for so long that they believe they will never be caught. From the attitude of this scrounger she feels that she will never be investigated as she doesn't care who knows what she's up to.

Additionally she is stealing money which should be destined for someone who genuinely needs the financial help.

Go on, spoil her day, just a simple phone call away. ;)
 
I'd say report them too, they are effectively stealing from those in genuine need as well as every hard working tax payer. OOps - cross posted with Syrah, great minds and all that!

Also have a brother in law and sister who haven't worked for over thirty years.Still manage to have car, holidays, both smoke and the usual trimmings. She is forever moaning as to how exhausted she is and has so much to do! Here I am with RA amongst other things and juggle several grandchildren four horses husband and dogs (not necesarily in that order horses and dogs first!!) She is far better off than we are my husband still working well past retirement . Report them.

Grass them up - the real issue for me is not the stealing from the tax payer it's the stealing from the truly disabled people who could use that money for therapies or better prostheses/ equipment to help them do 'activities of daily living ' which is what the benefit was designed for...
 
I work in benefit fraud - I would love a phone call like this, reporting them. Something juicy to get my teeth into! Ring your local DWP office or your local council as they are probably claiming Housing and Council tax benefit as well, if they are on incapacity.
 
report them! if she has facebook or something similar try and get some evidence to send along with it like photos of her riding or statuses that might have similar comments to what she said in the tack shop
 
I think we all know someone like that, i have a friend (word used very loosly there) not worked in 20 odd years claims incapacity benefit due to an eye injury so says she cant drive, but drives everywhere is a huge jeep has new rugs constanly for her horse goes to the pub every day for about 6 odd hours and is laughing her head off at us that call in for a drink after work, because us dumb idoits work for a living

DLA is to support people with a disability, whether they work or not. It may well be that she actually works legitimately
I don't think that there is any particular reason why someone with Autism can't have a horse.
In fact I have seen excellent progress made by autistic riders with RDA.

OP, I would report the woman you posted about, she is taking money from those who really need it.
 
Bloody report them, how nice for them to be able to get enough in benefits to support 4 horses :rolleyes: Never mind people like me who have been repeatedly told by my doctor not to be driving due to my medication, or the fact that I am running to the loo every 20minutes (sorry if TMI), or the fact that I am having my pelvis put back into place every fortnight. But because I can walk unaided I am not eligible for disability and have to work. :mad:

^ ^ that absolutely, its a joke, those that really need it struggle to make ends meet and afford a good christmas etc for their families yet those that know how to work the system make a lifestyle of it and enjoy far more than those of us that work bloody hard to afford a few luxuries. If we could stop this fraudulence there would be more for those less fortunate who really need it. An absolute disgrace and I too would be very tempted to anonymously report them.
 
What also annoys me about people like this is i have a friend who got a brain tumour about 4 years ago. She still now cannot walk without help, is now partially sighted and essentially needs extra nursing care. She'd love to get back to work in reality and before the brain tumour she was a very active person and was a keen showjumper. She has actually been denied benefits as she has been deemed capable of going back to work!!!

I just don't get how these other people get round the system seemingly so easily. God, i wish i had been in the shop when she was going on, i don't think I'd have been able to contain myself!!!
 
Report them, ive just reported my ex of 4years that claims EVERYTHING (I only found out the day before we broke up, which is why we broke up, scum of the earth) its so easy to do only takes 5mins its best to put as much detail as poss and is totally confidential :D
 
How stupid of them to talk like that in a shop, if I were them I wouldn't ever say a word in public, I personally couldnt grass anyone up, but if someone else did they deserve it
