Evening all.. I was planning on taking Stanley to a jumping comp tomo which is aimed specifically at nervous riders/novice horses which is perfect as sums us up perfectly! Stanley is really only just learning to jump(although he seems to like it) and I lost my confidence after a fall a few months ago and am slowly regaining it. Spoke to the lady running the comp who assured me it would be very low key and no pressure type of envionment. Just checked the weather and its forecast wind and heavy showers. Now wondering if the wind will spook him(it sometimes upsets him) and maybe I should leave this till another time. Its just that you don't often find these types of events and it does sound perfect for us. WWYD?

I'd say go for it! it couldn't be any more perfect! Get that chance to face your fears and over come the obstacles with the pros there to help :)

Imagine how great it will fee when you achieve all that *** and*** it was windy! :D

Obivoulsy dont if its dangerous to travel, but the wind will be an added bonus to the training when you get there :) So when your back at your sunny yard, you will feel more confident that ever ... like... " well I did all that in the wind and rain, now I can do this no problem!"

Good luck :)

Go for it!
With the british summer as it is if we allowed weather to determine what we do with our nedlets we'd never do anything with them.

Doesn't matter if you get there and spend half the time getting you both settled and relaxed. It's all experience at the end of the day.

Go and see how it is in the morning. If too windy just pull out. Best of luck what ever you decide!

Yeah that is a good plan - I will prob have a sleepless night wondering tho! Such a worrier.

He he - yes I would be super proud IF I got through it.

Good luck, don't want to push my whimpness on you , but I would give it a miss, but that is just me :(

My reply to you is GO FOR IT :)

You're not wimpy at all - just erring on side of caution which is what I normally do.....

That is so true - I think my doubts are just that we are at a pivotal stage in our confidence rebuild - although as you say its not as if he has never seen wind or rain before - in fact is out in it as we speak!

If it is not going to cost you a bomb in transport I would go and if you want to pull out then never mind and at least you got out for the experience, you could just take him round the show and take it all in. Those types of classes are great, people will expect wobbles and if it all gets too much no one is saying you have to finish the course!
