This is my horse of a lifetime. My husband was visiting Morocco one Easter on business and called to tell me he had bought me a present. That was nearly 5 years ago. When I first saw the photo I was quite honestly disappointed. I didn't say anything though.... thankfully! When I saw him he was riddled with worms, hogged mane, couldn't turn right and had only been raced on a track.
He's an Anglo Arab Stallion who is now nearly 9 years old. Here are a couple of before pics and one after picture. I will be seeing him in July as I spend the summer there.

His mane is now really, really long and he's amazing looking. I will post some more photos of him this year once I see him again.
 
Goodness, he looks like a totally different horse! He really is stunning. What are your plans with him? Top marks for hubby of course for seeing the potential in him. Brownish... ha. Mine is white, like really white so why do I insist he's grey?

Must be tough on you having to spend time away from him.

Hi Douglasmum! Yes, it's tough - we have a similar story don't we?! (generous husbands).
I was doing OK with him until about last year when he was just not fulfilling his potential because I couldn't keep up with him. So this year I've been working really hard on improving my riding - hence taking my stage 2 exam this month. As I only have him in work for about 7 weeks it's difficult to do a lot, but we managed a bit of jumping at the end of last year and some pretty good dressage. I'm just so looking forward to seeing him again:p Hope all is going well with your baby:)

If you look in the before picture number 1 his mane is hogged BUT it is black, now that in my book makes him a bay. The second before picture doesn't show any forelock therefore he looks chestnut. His markings have certainly not changed and to be honest I'm a bit upset that someone would say this. I love my horse and to have someone say something like this is mean. If you look beyond his appalling state you'll see that his nostrils are uneven in ALL his photos.

Perhaps this photo of him after the summer should clarify his colour and markings and my rectitude.

I can see what Lialls is saying but I thought it was just the angle of the photo.

On the head on shot, he has a blaze. On the 'after' picture, he looks to have just a star.

Can you see what she means now?
 
Thanks mymare, I was upset but thinking about it I suppose it's a bit of a flattering comment that some people cannot believe the change in one horse. I'll take it as a veiled compliment ialls.:rolleyes:
 
The first two pics are face on and therefore you can clearly see his stripe, which is more on the left hand side of his face, so in the third pic, which is taken from his right side, you can't clearly see the stripe. Also made more difficult by the pale sky directly behind him. IMO.
 
Millreef, he is just about perfect but I would say that because I have a purebred bay arab with very similar markings who looks like a smaller lighter version of your boy.

Your life sounds very complicated - as to where you live etc - hope it is enjoyable as well!
