Would you mind if your sharer borrowed your hat?

Not sure any one else would want to wear my hat it's a bit gross !! peyuw !!

echo what others have said - I would want my sharer to at least have a hat. I know all the gear and no idea is bad but seems it could be worse ...
 
Borrowing a hat once or twice is something I've seen done every now and again, however I wouldnt want anyone borrowing mine, for hygiene reasons, fitting reasons and also safety - what if she drops your hat onto hard ground and doesnt tell you - but it may cause damage to the structure of the hat...

Personally I'm not sure I'd be totally put off by the lack of equiptment if she was able to ride well and had the kind of knowledge I'd be looking for. It may be that she didnt want to spend money on kit until I knew I was going to use it...
 
im loaning someones horse whilst they are of to university, and they have the most expensive charles owen hat and i wouldnt even dream of asking her to borrow it, i only wore it once when she offered but im too scared of ruining it!!! i stick to my own hat, and boots and would never dream of riding in wellies, as it would be too diffiicult for me! she clearly trusts me, as she let me look after her horse on my own for a few days only a week after id tried the horse out, but i would never ask to borrow her hat

i wouldnt have a sharer with not boots or hat, is she a good rider?
 
I would politely and firmly insist she gets BHS gold or equivalent insurance, hat, gloves and boots before she took on a share with my horse.
 
Well I can tell you now, if someone replied to an advert of mine and presented themselves as a potential sharer with no hat and inadequate footwear I would laugh them off the yard!

If she is as irresponsible as she is to 'lose' a hat - an expensive piece of safety equipment IMO, what is she going to be like with things like, grooming kit, bridle, girth, saddle cloth etc... some of which are RELATIVELY cheap to replace but costs all mount up. Never mind your horse!!
 
This is where I am, I think turning up inadequately prepared for what is, ostensibly (sp) an interview is really bad manners and indicative of a lack of respect in general I feel. OK forgetting something is one thing, but generally not seeming to care enough to make sure you turn up adequately attired for the purpose is quite insulting IMO to the person considering letting you enjoy their horse!
 
I would expect the sharer to have her own hat, I would offer them the use of an old hat on a temporary basis, but not my new/best one. I have been had when a stranger asked to borrow my hat at a clinic(I rode in the lesson before her and after her as well ) she caught me unaware and said that if I didnt lend her mine she would not be able to ride.(hers was at home). She took of my hat and put it on the ground then her horse kicked it and put dirt inside it, this stuck to the sweaty inside!! nice!!! she didnt even say thank you!!!!
 
No yuk, someone elses sweaty head in my hat no thanks, its bad enough putting on after yourself.

And how come she doesn't have anything, I thought they only provided stuff to borrow at a riding school which this isn't she'll be sharing so I would expect her to have her own stuff.
 
Sorry but there is no way I would take on a sharer who didn't have their own hat and boots. That would suggest to me someone who has only had a handful of lessons at a riding school and not enough knowledge to be left to look after a horse for a couple of days a week.
