Would you part loan a horse to this person???

Ok, so due to the riding school being up for sale, and the possibility that I might lose my instructor of 2.5 years, I've kind of re-evaluated what I want from my riding.

As much as I enjoy my riding lessons with my instructor, 1 hour a week just isn't enough riding. I miss helping out at my old riding school and generally taking care of the horses as well as riding them. £28 for 1 hour's riding is a lot of money.

So I thought I might look around for a part loan or share horse. Wondered what people think of this... would you part loan your horse to this person...?

19 years old
Riding for 3 1/2 years
Has completed BHS Horse Owners course stages 1 & 2
Ridden a variety of horses from 14hh cobs to 18hh ex eventers, tbs, warmbloods, etc
Quite confident, can school a horse etc
Ridden young, just broken in horses and older horses
Willing to pay up to £80 or so a month
Has own transport
Available on weekdays and weekends



So, is it worth a try???
 
I would loan my horse to you if i was going to. You sound like a good all round individual!

I think you should go for it. Put the add in local tack shops paper etc!

Yes you sound similar to my sharer for Bails. Advertise locally someone will snap your hand off at this time of year, but be weary and exercise a bit of caution when first riding new horses try and treat it like you were going to buy it, ie see owner ride first etc.
 
Yes you will get a lot more out of loaning than from a riding school !!

Though please dont take this in the wrong way i would not be giving you any of my horses to school as you have only been riding for 3 1/2 years - I would start of with a fun horse that is already schooled you can learn with and have some fun xx
 
ye I would deffinatly but im just looking for someone to ride mine in the week to keep her fit (not really looking for loan/share) as I work mon-fri 9-5, where abouts are you and Ill keep an eye out for you?
 
i cant see a problem, you sound as though you could be handy to have around.

dont say how much money your willing to put up, people might try and take you for a ride!!. be choosey its your money
 
Yes!! You sound like a very good sharer!

I loaned mine out to a girl who had only been riding just about 2 years, no exams etc but she was a very good rider and her cuz is an instructor. As long as someone could demonstrate good horse knowlege or at least the desire and that they are learning I would even loan him to someone to learn to ride on!
 
Yep, plus the Wheal Buller horses are not dead to leg plods like a lot of riding schools have, they actually challenge you and teach you how to ride rather than how to just sit and be taken for a ride!
 
I would absolutely loan to you - you are more than qualified on paper........But I don't personally think I would want to loan my horse, I would find I got jealous I think! I know it sounds stupid.
Is £80/month the standard/going rate? It doesn't sound that much...........
 
Hmm, I'm not sure, that's basically as much as I can afford, but it just depends...

I'm on the look out... will let you know if I find anything

Most people i know who part-loan their horses charge about that much or sometimes a little less, should only be more if the horse is on full livery or something-in my opinion
