i am just wondering if its good value compared to what everyone else gets?

Is the straw, haylage and feed included in the cost? if so then sounds ok to me. Wouldn;t have it myself as would turn out, bring in, change rugs, check etc myself! Also, I have two fatties so wouldn;t work out economical for them, but I would probably be quids in with the TB!

it depends if the wormers, straw, hayledge, hard feed etc mentioned is actually included in the price or just available at the location?

oh and also where in the country you are!!

the bedding, haylage and hard feed is included in the price, you have to buy your own upplements and use the brands of feed that they buy.

the yard is in the yorkshire

So is this an "all inclusive" DIY? Do you muck out each day?

Our yard is £27.50 per week which is for a stable and grazing with hay, haylage and straw included. Lorry parking and trailer parking are extra - a couple of pounds, I think. We also have a walker, which is 50p per day and an indoor school which is £5 per hour.

I would want to know that I could have my own choice of farrier, trimmer, vet and instructor, but that's my personal choice.

I would love the off road hacking though - so would probably pay the extra for that alone!

Something I would definitely consider. WOuld depend on how much was charged for services, also do you dictate which vets, farrier etc is used. ALso hate the thought of having a specific brand of feed dictated as well. PRobably wouldn't be as economical for me as I have a fatty who I'd want on shavings and who has restricted hay and turn out. I'd pay good money for those facilities though!

that's not much more than what i pay and i get less than that included so yes i would say it's a good deal but it does depend on what other yards in your area are charging.

I think that sounds good compared to a yard I was at in north yorkshire 5 years ago. Mine was a lovely, lovely yard, similar feed arrangement, daily routine but we were on shavings. We only had an outdoor school and summer jumping paddock and I paid £303 a month.

The last yard I was at in somerset I was paying £330 a month for the above, but chopped straw and only a 20x40 outdoor. Daily care wasn't that great either. Hacking was around lanes only, so not great.

Guess it depends whether you are spoilt for choice where you are, I've never been that lucky!

not sure - sounds a lot - no horsewalker, shower or round pen, xc course and 200 acres isnt much i have access to over double that.

What a senseless post!
Why do you feel the need to show off?

Not everyone needs/wants a horsewalker - most people prefer to ride their horses
Who needs a round pen anyway?
200 acres not a lot? How do you know? Do you know how many horses are on the yard?

OP, that sounds OK to me, although I'd be concerned about having to use a particular brand of feed (maybe not suitable for all).
Have you talked to the other liveries? They could give you an insight into how things are on the yard.

Not really!! why do you feel the need to rant - like on the other thread? the 200 acres relates to the off road hacking chick.

I am about the same for full livery and I get:

12x14 stable
Daily turnout/bring in
Feed 3 times daily
Hay 3-5 times daily
Bring in for vet, blacksmith and dentist
Bedding straw/shavings
Light grooming/feet picked out
All year turnout
Fully lit indoor school 70m by 25m
Jumping paddock/grass jumping paddock 20m x 40m
20m by 40m dressage all weather floodlit arena
Full range of cross country fences
Horsewalker
Half Mile All Weather Gallop

Having kept horses in yorkshire- i would say that is expensive for the part of the country. About 3 years a go i used to pay £40p/w for stable, all day turnout/ horse mucked out/ rugs changed/fed etc etc they did everything but didnt ride/ look after tack. It was a nice yard as well, not a run down sort of thing.

In berkshire, i would think that that is fantastic value and would move there in a shot!!! At the minute i pay £118 p/m for stable and a field and ad lib hay. But i have to do everything mysel f(theres no groom servioce). At the yard i was at previously, it was £44 a week DIY. On top of that i was spending about £35 a week on hay, £15 a week on straw and had to buy my own feed. I ended up sepnding just under £400 per month for DIY. which in hind sight was way over my budget!!!

But i have to say- transport to shows in summer would cinch it for me...what anamazing idea!!!

Nope too much imo. I pay 105 per month. I can them add 20 pounds per month for straw and 25 pounds per month for hay if I needed it so that's 150 and we have 2 commons behind our yard with no roadwork. We don't have an indoor school but I wouldn't pay 150 per month for one! I'm in worcester.

Forgot to add that if you want full livery on my yard they only do it during winter at 150 per month so total would be 195 no food included. Which I would prefer as I have a fatty

Damn good value if you are in an affluent area and have a well paid job, depends on location etc. I would happily pay that if I was earning over £20,000 p/a. Unfortunately I live in an area where that sort of money is not the norm

I pay £433 for that in Cambs with much less hacking and no indoor school, but do get single turnout and rug changes every day

Can't speak for Yorkshire, but down here it sounds very good value indeed. I used to be on a yard which charged a lot more for quite a lot less.
