Depends what you want to do with the horse and how it would affect its performance I guess, maybe you could bid them a lower price because of this? If you are happy with the horse in every other way then I would buy it especially if it's a bit of a bargain at 8000 Would it bother you?
QR.
I once groomed for a family who owed a very sucessful JA pony. This pony's conformation could have been used on a 'what not to buy' poster, but oh boy could it jump. Stayed sound as well.
it would have to be extra extra special in all other depts! 8 grand is an expensive horse in the current climate! would have to be an all singing all dancing model with a very good track records money and points!
Exactly - same for Toytown. Personally I couldn't care less what a horse looks like as long as it does its job. Obviously if the job is showing or breeding etc, then terrible confo is not great. Plenty of SJ and event horses who don't look "right" but are amazing at their job.
I'm skint so I wouldn't pay £8k for a horse with text book perfect conformation!- well not unless it did housework and was self mucking out
However, if I were a serious competitor and it was a sound horse good at their job then yes I would consider it.
Could it be it's an £8k horse because it has the faults. If it didn't have them would it be worth a lot more?
I have a friend that had a horse that was competing at ** and was struggling at that level. After investigations it turned out he had a mild heart murmur. This reduced his value incredibly and she put him on the market for £4k. I cannot count the number of people that viewed him and tried to bargain the price down based on the murmur. My friends reply was "without the murmur he would be for sale for £10k. He has been passed OK for ODE, just not 3DE. He did eventually sell for the asking price and is now a dressage star
supreme rock had a turned in toe!!!!! there is no such thing as a PERFECT horse, and if the comp record was very good and the horse was still sound and fit ect ect then yes i would!!!!
sorry its took so long for me to look at your replies its interesting to know your thoughts and most of you have the same response as me its too much
the horse in question is 16.3hh and has a roached back he has only done hunting so far
