would you....rather have a horse that reared or horse that bronced?

Find rearing easir to sit to..but i have seen a horse go over and land on someone it was the scariest thing to watch ever! she was ok but could have been so much worse.. been bronced off couple of times but at least you generally get catapulted away from horse so i'd rather have a bucking horse for sure..

reared!
iv had a rearer & find them so much easier to sit to, altho im lucky never to have one go over backwards on me. My current youngster has a nasty bronc in her & i hate it, she gave me pretty good whiplash when i was backing her :(

Depends on the situation - if the horse was doing either out of excitement that dosent bother me. However ive had a horse that reared and bronced out of nasty-ness (had hundreds of vet checks/physio/teeth/saddles etc so no physical problems) - and in the end i got fed up of it.

I'd rather a broncer anyday. My old horse, the youngster, used to have a nasty bronc in him, but he taught me to sit to any kind of buck/bronc poss! Hate rearers, just the thought of them going over and landing on me is enough to put me off.

Broncer anyday!!!! I'm not the pony clubs, "miss stickability" for nothing! ah ha!
Rearing I dislike more, as if the horse goes over it can be fatal...id feel as though it was my fault for putting the horse off balance or something.

Rearing is easyer to sit to but I broke my left hip and left wrist when a young cob reared up and fell over ontop of me in the middle of the road. I was very lucky that day. Bronking is much safer than rearing in that respact especialy when i say rearing i mean more than 2 ft off the floor i mean bolt upright.
Horrid does both. Well actualy he rears, bucks, leaps and spins all at the same time. He's my own personal rodeo bull :p :D :D :D But I love him dearly. :D

^^ This. My young horse does both. The rearing is generally frustration because I won't let her bronc. lol The broncing is sheer excitement. I don't really mind either too much though I do correct them.

If done maliciously, I'd rather the broncing. Rearing to get rid of someone is pretty darn scary and potentially more dangerous imo.

Neither tbh but if I had to choose it would be a rearer. Sounds stupid but to stop myself from being scared, I just imagine I'm flying lol. It has always helped me to remember to never pull on the horses mouth too. Broncing always seems to happen far to quickly for me to do anything with, EG; keep my bottom in the saddle! At least with a rear you can sort of tell when its gonna come.

Neither! But having a pony that will do both  I would say bronc. I find rearing easier to sit to, but it's so much more dangerous incase the horse falls on you!

If i HAD to choose, it would be a rearer, as long as its not bolt upright lol.
A few days after i got Lady she reared bolt upright then toppled backwards, hitting her head off the ground. Thank God she was ok and luckily no one was riding her!

Neither. I am going to make absolutely sure I never buy another who does either. For those who say they don't mind a bronker, well.. you are welcome to come and try and school mine out of this dangerous habit.

Ballet rears out of exitement and it's mainly out hunting. I don't take her out that often anymore, it's the waiting around and the queuing. She has scared me before, but she is rarely, if at all, over the top dangerous.

Spanner bucks, but out of boredom, it's mainly doing flatwork, it's helped me with stickability, but after having a pony that bronked, it doesn't bother me that much. However I hope she'll grow out of it (She's 5). Once theres a jump, it's like she can focus and concentrate.

I woudn't swap either for anything. :D And I'd rather have a rearer like Ballet than a constantly handstanding horse.

Give me a bronc any day! My mare is a true rearer (hence why she's now a field ornament!) and has come over backwards to land on me FAR too many times... most rears are easier to sit than broncs... but I would much rather have a horse bronking for england than one squishing me!

I wasn't going to reply to this, but I feel compelled to as I cannot believe that some people would rather a rearing horse, it is such a dangerous habit. Sure, I'd rather have neither, but rearing is so dangerous. I have had several rearers along the way and it's a hard habit to break. I had a perfect 14hh pony and she was not a rearer, although got stung on the hock one time and reared and fell on top of me, and caused an injury that I will have to cope with for the rest of my life.
