Ok so previous owner has 'lost' my new horses passport but I have checked with the vets and the horse is up to date with her vaccs and is due the end of this month so should I carry on as normal or start again? i have been pestering the owner to ring vets and give the ok for me to have the records of horses vaccs but no such luck yet

I am thinking of moving yards soon so what should I do? I dont think I can use the vets with horses records because they are quite far away so would a new vet make me restart them anyway?

Costly as it is it is best to restart so that you have a full record if you are going to compete anywhere that they will check. This includes riding club nationals etc.

Offer her a financial incentive to make the phone call.

You can still save money that way.

Alternatively, ring her vet, offer them the incentive and get them to ring her for consent.

Can't the vet just transfer the details of previous injections onto new passport? That's what mine did although to be fair was a different circumstance - I already owned the horse and had forgotten my passport at time of vaccs so just got them filled in the next time they were up.
I recently had a similar prob with my new horse - was only when I had the passport that I realised horse didn't appear to have had its vaccs. Owner assured me they were done every year but when checking with vet they hadn't any vacc records for last 3 years for this horse

so I just got them restarted.
