Would you say this was having double standards?

My other half has just walked in with a new golf set. This is one week after I got a ticking off for 'wasting money on another piece of tack". When I questioned him his reaction was, 'It was really cheap, a bargain, I really need them because my game is improving". That's exactly what I say when I buy a new piece of tack but apparently it's not an acceptable excuse for me. I've given him a stern look but do you think he deserves harsher punishment?

My OH is a golfer as well. I would never criticise what he buys or the amount of time he spends at the golf course in summer, because it could never add up to the money or time that I spend on the horses. I would leave him be.

My instinct is to say yes but to be honest, we pay £60 a month for my OH's golf membership and he's had two sets in clubs in 14 years. Compared to what I fork out for my horses, I really can't complain as there really IS no £££ comparison :o

I think the stern look should suffice, to be honest.....

Me and my OH have an unsaid understanding - he doesn't ask me how much I spend and I don't ask him! So long as all the household bills are paid and there is food on the table etc who gives a stuff what we each spend on ourselves! I know women who have their nails and hair done on a weekly basis and as for what they OHs spend down the pub!!!

Moral of story - dont tell him when you buy new stuff!

Agree with this, my oh doesnt golf, but he does festivals and concerts, i dont begrudge him any of them as the cost'll never stack up to what my horses cost to keep over the years.
