When i first bought my horse at 18 months old,i didnt realise i was pregnant!!good job she was a baby so i could do all the ground work with her.Thing is we hated eachother till i was 8 months pregnant, when i went in to labour early and thought it was only severe braxton and hicks, well how wrong was i!!!I can remember she kept sniffing and blowing hot air on my stomach, everytime i walked of the yard to go toilet she would neigh and call at me everytime i went back down to the yard and wouldnt stand still until i was near her,Well to put her back at in the field i had to walk about 5 mins up the road,so i led her out the gates and begged her to take it steady, she was no were near broke at the time and this lil horse allowed me to pretty much lean over with my arm and carry me down the road, and took every step carefully and would stop turn round sniff my belly and proceed, and watched me walk down the road from the gate as if she was anxious and wanted to see that i was ok.anyway that night i had my lil bundle of joy.I took a week off after a c-section and went down to see her after a friend had looked after her for me,i called and looked to see her canter over and calling with delight and i have never thrown my arms around a horses neck before to cuddle her as hard as i could, and thanked her as if it wasnt for her i would have probably been in trouble, these were the doctors words.when she was 3 years old she was took to me like a fish in water and since then we have not looked back with riding, shes my lil angel in disguise and nothing would let me part with her now!!she doesnt ride the same for anyone else and has even thrown a few people off and been perfect once i got back on to sort her out,a friend of mine even said when she first met her it was as if she was meeting her to get her seal of approval to be my friend which she past anyway, lol.and that she had a strange sense of feeling around her.I do believe that this horse is my soul mate as crazy as it sounds!lol.sorry about the essay, but i could go on and on.whats your weirdest moment with your horse?

What a lovely story. I'm sure she was looking after you. Horses and other animals are so intuitive. I haven't really got a similar story as my two girls are Mardy Mares!. But I am sure they understand much more than we give them credit for.

ah,thanx for reading.Shes an absolute babe to work with and be around, just a shame it took me so long to realise how sweet natured she was!But im making up for it now,i hope, lol.I never have a mardy mare moment just fizzy moments which i find a giggle to see her still being a baby,i must admit ive never had a problem with her even when shes in season.x

I have had 2 of them, both rather quirky arabs, sadly they both died way too soon.

It is a good feeling to have when your horse really seems to like being aound you.

Oh that is just such a lovely story, it’s amazing how much they tune into you! You obviously have a wonderful girly there.

Not quite the same but my Mum has Alzheimer’s, and we have a little Fjord that she plods around on. He so knows it’s her when she is riding and his whole persona changes, you can see it in his face, he really looks after her. I get on him or his sharer and he perks up and can be much more cheeky, he so knows who is riding him. Funny how they know, but they really do.

my arab mare, sadly lost to colic, was similar. usually potty- was very gentle around me when i was expecting my little boy. i also had a c section and after having 6 weeks (ish!) off she was perfect and so steady the first time i rode her out, and she hadn't been rode all through my pregnancy. i really was lost without her but 2.5 years down the line i have a new boy who seems just as quirky and just as caring, so yes we are getting there

What a lovely story and a wonderful bond.

I do not have a similar story per say.
But many years ago, when I was 15, I had my heart broken by an older guy who I really liked. I went out to the field crying one evening and my mare came over to me, stopped eating and just stood with me, it was very touching. She is so food orientated so it was out of character for her.
As has been suggested, I think they are incredibly intuitive and very sensitive animals.

Lovely story, it reminds me of my OH's (Dark_Knight) soul mate Sir. He has had him since he was 3 mths old, he got his name by taking over an hour to pick up one back leg.... Sir is now 14 and is D_K's best friend. When I was pregnant with our son, we are sure Sir knew well before us, he is 17.1, very well mannered, but likes to 'play' with me when I ride him, always one party trick thrown in to let me know who is boss

When I was pregnant he never put a foot wrong for me. When Ewan was 2 days old D_K took hm for a walk in the horses field while I had a rest. Our other horses were out with Sir and the German Shepards were having a run round a s well. D_K rang me to go out and watch Sir, he was actually pushing the pram with his nose, blowing softly at Ewan, if another horse or dog came close he put his ears falt back and chased tehm off in no uncertain terms. When he saw me he pulled me into the group of D_K and the pram, it was quite an amazing 15mis. Sir is now a total angel with Ewan, D_K used to hold Ewan in front of him while riding and Ewan would go to sleep while Sir plodded around. Ewan is now 6, but for teh past 3 yrs Sir has let him ride round the school, walking or jogging, he never trots properly as Ewan would fly off to his massive stride. In the field Sir will come over and nicely keep other horses away from us and if Ewan is with us he just walks quitely at his side.
When Ewan was so poorly as a baby Sir seemed to understand my mood, 13 weeks in Birmingham Childrens Hospital took its toll on all of us, when I spent a little time at home it was Sir I would ride, he just switched into my mood and somehow always cheered me up, none of the other horses could do this.

My soulmate was a TB chestnut mare, who I bought as a reback, because I felt sorry for her. She was so wary of people, never nasty but had an egde to her. As she grew to trust me she became everything I wanted in a horse, my best friend who never judged me, just always did her best. I lost her to an accident in the field nearly 2 yrs ago, but not a day goes past that I dont think about her and all she taught me.

Great Story, yes I would say I have. Over the years I have owned and loved many horses, my horse Ebony has been with me throught a double transplant, cages on my leg and in the end my having my leg removed above the knee. She has been the reason I carried on, she looks out for me all the time and never puts a hoof wrong when I got back after not riding for four years, she walks so slowly next to me and always charges to the gate when I call her as I am unable to walk that far and not fast she alows me to do anything with her which might be a bit of a struggle compared to an able person and she never moves or makes a fuss, with out her I would not be here she is an Irish Draught X T/B a gentle giant, who gave me my life back.

def. my mare Candy. Will do anything for me and will protect me walking through field past others. She is def my soul mate- no noe else has ever ridden her and never will.
