Would you sell you horse to.....

No way - I just wouldn't be able to not interfere.

It's hard enough that my 1st pony is on loan to someone at the yard and it has affected out friendship as I don't always think she's doing things well/correctly!!!!

Maybe I'm just a control freak!!!!!!!

depends on why I was selling- if I didnt get on with that horse then yes I would sell to someone at the yard but if it was because of financial situation/time etc then no as it would break my heart!

Im sure most of you know that I’ve been struggling with what to do with my section D mare. A family at the yard have shown interest in her & at first I thought it was the ideal answer as id get to see her everyday & know she was ok. I feel so confused. I love the mare to bits & im many ways she is ideal. However it is just a case of novice & novice. The family have a different routine; don’t turn out for long, if at all & I know my mare would hate that. And what if they sold her on? I’d have no say.
My hacking friend, who was also a novice with a novice, kept him and he was 19 when he was PTS. The only reason I would see is because she is green in the school and can be spooking in there on occasions. No probs out hacking or at shows.

No - have done it before - sold as a competition pony as that's what she loved doing on agreement from purchaser that she would not end up on working livery (written) - pony barely ever competed and was then loaned to another girl and kept on working livery.

Pony then went lame (4 years after I sold it) and was diagnosed with a bony change to 1 hock joint - caused by an old injury - at this point they wanted their money back even though they had not vetted her as they had 'known her for so long'

I offered to buy back pony at it's value at that point (had never been lame before this) and they refused saying I was trying to con them, I'd caused the injury (that had never shown up until that point) and that I knew all along - WTF????

Caused alot of problems for a while (mainly with the girls mother) - I'm still friends with the daughter but after that NEVER!

Wouldn't have the issue now though as I keep mine at home so would only be selling to OH

NO. My daughters small pony is outgrown- we need to sell so we can buy a bigger one. People on my yard have expressed an interest, but TBH i wouldnt be able to keep my nose out if they did things differently to what I think they should be done...some of them don't turn out till ate and shes used to being out at 6.30am with my others. She was used and abused in the past because she's so obliging for the kids, thats why i stepped in and bought her in the first place.
It would be hard to see her every day, harder than finding her a good home elsewhere.

I think you should work through it with your pony for a while and then reassess.

On my first horse I was pretty much a novice with a novice and had a very very steep uphill climb with him, but we got there, reached an understanding and he was just perfect in every way to me. I couldn't see how any other horse could out-do him, even top class eventers!!!!

If you sell then I would not sell within the yard.

Persevere with your pony. I've had my section D for a 18months now, and before i got him all he did was trekking in wales, so when i took him in the school it was totally alien to him, he would spook at anything and everything. Now he'll listen to me and even work in an outline. Find a good instructor and have some lessons, thats what i do. It'll give you and your pony more confidence. If your pony only spooks in the school your lucky, mine spooks out on hacks aswell.

If you sell her somwhere else, they might not turn out ect as much as you like, but does that then make it ok because you cant see it happen? If your selling it shouldnt matter whether its on your yard or not, and it would be LESS stressful for your pony if she stayed where she is.
