Would you show your horse when the judge knows the competitors?

Just curious ...

if you were showing your horse would you be happy if you knew that the judge ran the organisation and was friends (as opposed to just acquaintences) with the other entrants? I am talking about local level as well as at County level?

Would you think you were getting a chance of being judged fairly?

Thankfully I havent come across this but Im told it might be the case with some independant clubs.
 
Probably not, especially after yesterdays showing experience

Anyone who shows at a good competitive level is probably known by fellow entrants and the judge. so what???

Professionals don't behave like that...
 
Think its like that from local to county level. Your bound to get to know people if you keep meeting them at shows.

Even better if you can buy your horse from the judge...or at least a good friend of the judge, or even just a well known producer

Professional Judges, judge what they see before them on the day and do remain totally unbiased, and with so many well known judges, it would be hard to find someone to judge a class who didn't know someone in the ring.......

I think its normal to meet up with the same judges and competitors in the course of competition but to administer a club, be the judge of its own classes and spend all day chatting to the members on a forum surely has to bring into question professionalism ? Particulary if private club members are discouraged while public class numbers are encouraged.

It must be had not to pick someone youve passed time with, whether at a clinic or on your own forum. Not impossible but surely difficult. The chances of this happening at BE or BD is remote because of the wide range of judges used.

I'm not directing this at any one club or judge, Im just curious as to what people would think if they knew thier judge was more than just a professional acquaintance with the other entrants.

technically speaking you should not judge classes at a show that you are running ( i was under the impression it wasn't the done thing)...... in any case for the show to run well you shouldn't have the time
