as post says, im debating it at the mo, but not 100% due to the time commitments and the overheads, what do you rekon, would you go ahead with current no win no fee culture. it be at own yard where i have existing liveries but its a happy quiet yard and i dont know if i want to disturb the current peace - money would sway me though!!

Would you do the teaching yourself? Good teaching staff are hard to find and blooming expensive.

At home we run a full livery yard and have 4 ponies plus a horse who we teach on. We only do private lessons, almost all are taught by my sister who's an II and very well known in the area. It makes money because we've built up a very good reputation so people who want their children to learn to ride properly (ie not following nose to tail with a useless instructor) will pay our prices.
It wont make you rich though! It is possible to maintain it at a nice low level like we do- we'll maybe do 3-6 weekdays and 9-2 Saturdays with most sundays off. This fits in quite well with the liveries and they dont mind occaisionally having to share

wel we have enough horses to set one up, we have 38 horses. My grandmother had a riding school and she taught me to be the rider i am today!!!
but unfortunatly we dont have the facilities as we live on a farm and so only feilds we have, but we have great xc areas and hacking places!
in a way, we have done good to produce good sj, showing, eventers etc seen as we dont have the very good facilities!!
but no, giving the chance we probably wouldnt because its too much troube and if a brat falls off we've had it lol!!!!(a joke)

You would have to have a large amount of horses, stables & facilities to make it pay as the insurance for a riding school is seriously expensive as are the business rates compared with livery insurance & rates. The council will come out and re-assess all your facilities, road access, excessive road use! so make sure you have enough room to set one up large enough. Even if you only teach 1 person a week you have to re-register as a riding school.

i would love have a holiday riding place and school. but i live in la la land. so don't mind me, but a girl is allowed to dream.......just looking for a rich sugar daddy (if thats you pm me????)
lol
