am on the look out for a loan horse and may have found one. The main problem is that it has a dropped hip from a previous injury. The advert is very truthful and lists the problems that this boy has. The owner states that he is fine apart from being wooden to ride on the flat and obv not being able to do dressage and riding classes. However he has done SJ and HT and been fine.

Havent really come across this before and was just wondering if others have and if so what problems may occur and what could i expect in the future, he is only 8

thanks

hi i had a lovely arab gelding with this problem and although he was never lame i always felt it was not fair to jump him and on advice from a vet he had to become a light hack

The only best advice on something like this is taking your vet along to actually take a look and discuss with him/her what you'd be wanting to do with the horse as well as a good back person, only they could tell you, there is no easy answer because some horses are ok to be ridden normally others as you say just lightly and many not at all so its something you'd need to discuss with the right people re the individual horse.
