Would you take on a horse like this?

I have a 14yo ISH ten times worse than that, violent in the stable, bites, threatens to kick, squishes!! Got him from a faultlessly honest (and lovely) lady from West Yorks (via PH). He's the best thing that ever happened to me. He's more settled now, plenty of turnout and me sticking with him has turned him into a lovely horse, I don't get bitten any more :D

I took on a 10 year old with far more wrong than that list both physically and mentally, and then a 3 year old that was horribly green, even in racing standards, who wasn't and still isn't a novice ride.

Sounds like it is definatly worth a punt.... wish I could, but one is enough.

That could have been my horse you described 5 years ago! (except 8 year old mare who had been starved and neglected in between)
She became fab all rounder and if it hadn't been for a freak accident 2 years ago which means she can't seriously jump anymore, she would now be competing at BE Novice and maybe further (providing I was brave enough).
As it is she's still a great fun horse with quite a busy life, just a bit lower key.

hey, yes i would def take this on. In the right hands horses with issues can flourish, many horse's don't enjoy the race industry, they can get v stressed and are completely different in a one to one home, nothing against racing but this is a common issue, cribbing/weaving etc and i wouldn't let it put me off at all, probably a nice little horse once it settles-so you own it now but need to sell it on is that is issue santalover?

Hi PP, yes that is sort of the gist of it although "need to" and "sell" are probably not the right words. She raced as a 2yo- 5 years ago and I have no idea what she has done since, if she has bred foals then they haven't been tb but that's all I know. At least she is sound with decent conformation and nice feet so that's a plus. I will hack her out this weekend and see how she goes then maybe advertise her. I don't really want her to go to someone to sell on is all. Hard to know but at least you folks have given me some good vibes as to finding her a nice home. Anyone is welcome to pm me too. :)
