I currently work for a lady part time doing her two horses on her private yard. The time is spread over 6 mornings to m/o, t/o, exercise and other yard duties to about 17 hours a week.
I get paid extra to do her horses in the evening each day when she needs which is the majority of the time.
I keep my horse there in return for three hours work per week, so for that i do the 7th morning just m/o and t/o and two evenings for her.
I have the oppotunity to buy another horse, one which i can compete on to a good level, (which my current horse could not do) and keep it on her yard for an extra 2 hours work per week, so basically some more evenings. This does include turnout, stable, all hay, haylage when stabled and hard feed for both my horses.
How would you feel about this arrangement, it does mean i will be there most of the time, but i feel like i am anyway. I may also get the opportunity to compete with her next year which alleviates the need for my own transport.
Would i be mad not to do it, it means i would only need to pay for bedding, shoes, wormer and then any fees for comps?
