Would you take your horse abroad?

Hi Just wondered if any of you are totally put off by taking or your horse going abroad -
If yes this is my story and should you be put off?
I'm English but have lived abroad for a number of years.
I'm 38 years old, ridden since i was 6, owned since i was 11 and worked on and off with horses (including teaching) for a number of years.
I'm lucky enough that after many years of hard work i own my own stables and land and only work weekends.
I keep my own horses (2 oldies) to a very high standard myself.
One of my oldies is a rescue horse that when i deceided to move from Spain to Bulgaria, the chairty signed over owner ship to me (which they dont usually do) so he could come with me.
I sold my jeep and worldly belongings so that they could come with me, theres no way i would of left them behind! They will be with me until they deceide its time to go.
I have a excellent vet, farrier etc
Please don't take this the wrong way, but i beleive in some ways i could offer a better home than some people in the UK, i don't have to worry about losing my job, paying for a livery and if the livery is up to standard. I have plently of time.
I also brought with me my 4 dogs and 2 cats, i get so annoyed when i see so many animals trying to be re-homed because of owners moving abroad.
So .. please don't be put off by ALL overseas buyers/homes
 
I think it comes down to how much you love your horse and if they are fit enough to travel. Most people would put their own needs above their horses, so would re-home them to make it easier to move abroad. Some horses would be too old or infirm to travel abroad. Those that really adore their horses would either not move or take their horse with them.
 
More than anything i feel as if i'm getting negative feedback on wanting a horse from the UK because i'm would be bringing it to Bulgaria.
I think most responsable horse owners should think about and look into it carefully before moving- each horse is different and some may not cope with major changes in climate.
But i'm offering a great home to a horse but people can't seem to see pass the taking it abroad.
 
I would and have too! Spain/UK for me, both horses to Spain and horses from Spain to the UK. I wouldn't worry one jot about horses going abroad, but the prob is that there is a hugely big fluffy crew in the UK who are all convinced that horses that go abroad only go for meat or torture

Oh thanks weezy .. bless you .. thats really cheered me up .. it does get to you when you know you have a fanstic home for a horse and no one seems to wants to know.


Where abouts in Spain was you? i was Almeria, but adore Bulgaria now and i'm here to stay
