Would you use premier equines sports wraps ?

I very rarely use boots, did a equine degree and learned that when doing fast work tendons are about .5 of a degree off breaking down due to being too hot. I use tendon boots for jumping and fetlock boots behind, but my horse doesn't catch herself or have tendon/ligament problems (touch wood).

The Velcro is really hard to undo. I did use them, but Popeye wasn't around to help me take them off after every ride!

I've got them but they do make her legs sweat and after discussions on here I don't use them much now. How my horses survived years ago I don't know :-/

If you had asked in the other thread I would have mentioned the reasons. They absorb water, they do not support anything and they are not protective. I also think they look really amateur. They were produced for western riding which makes sense with the slides and spins.

I only use mine when the ground is really sticky and its very cold. They are a b**ger to put on, they do really heat up the leg and made my young horse move in a most peculiar fashion when on his hind legs. I think they do offer great support but are only suitable at certain times of years. Never tested the water theory, had just assumed they would get waterlogged.

Interesting thread. Only started using them this year. No issues with sweating on my boy but he is'nt a hot horse. Find them easier to put on than bandages. You just has to stick them to themselves when you take them off and it's easy. See Oli Townend video on PE site. My horse seems happier when wearing them.

No bandage or boot can offer support to tendons. If you look at the structure of the horses leg its impossible. You can only protect the tendons from blows in which case you do not want material you want shatter proof guards which can be found in tendon boots or cross country boots.

I have never seen Paul Tapner ride in them at competitions or warm up in them.

I use them in the winter for schooling but don't in the summer as they are slightly heating in my experience and I don't want to risk anything! X

Have to add I don't use these anywhere other than schooling in arena don't use them hacking or anywhere where they may get water on them and they are used for 20 mins at a time max I wouldn't use them any longer than that

I used to use them, then was advised to swop to bandages and tendon boots for Polocrosse training and matches, I was useless at bandaging but its amazing how having to do them several times a day during training makes me learn!
I still use them for hacking when it's cold they do absorbe water and can feel heavy.
