Go on holiday with the owner of the horse you share, the horse, her new baby and her family??

HO wants me to come along for a week to "help" with the horse as she has never looked after her on her own before (and with a new baby)! Its in Fance at a farm they own with the rest of her family.

There is a treking yard nearby so we could hire one of their horses to ride so we could both ride at the same time.
Also she's not really going to be back in the saddle for a long while as she needed loads and loads of internal stitches.

I get on really well with her and her OH but not sure if i will just be acting as her personal groom/ nanny.

But you can't go wrong with a free holiday can you?!

Thoughts please...

Yeah I probably would, but wouldnt really want to go on any "trips" they had planned and would rather do the horses and then my own thing!

Go, but make it quite clear that you are only dealing with the horse, helping with housework/meal prep etc but not the sprog, after all her OH is there too and you are not an unpaid nanny. Also, if you can afford it you could offer to pay a little towards the holiday - maybe hiring the trek horse? That way you are not under such an obligation.

Thanks for the responses guys! I think i will sit down with her and have a chat about it. I'm quite concerned about taking her mare over as she suffers terribly with the flies and i know its mosquitto heaven out there. I'll also see how much it would cost to hire a treking horsey so we can ride together. I need to make sure she has a stable for Maggie as she will need to be in during the day to save her from the flies and to laminitus!!

Ahhhh its all so tricky!
