....allow anybody to ride your horse,a couple of summer's ago I went to stay with my friend and she will not allow anybody to ride her horse.......she let me due to the fact her loan horse had dumped me(her other horse that had lost it's footing while cantering and rolled on me no damage was done, except I had bruises and refused to get back on him!)so I rode her mare home and she rode her loan gelding home. When we got back her friend whom she shares a small yard with said"Your lucky as she won't let anybody on her!"....so I smiled and guessed as we had been mates over 25 years she had no choice......I was suprised as have let friends ride my horses over the years with no hang up's about it.....as long as they could ride, do you mind who rides your horse or you rather no one rode him apart from you!

Im really picky who I let ride my horses!!! I have to really like someones riding to allow them to hop on!!! Some of my friends I would never allow to ride my horses, but as I keep my horses at home and very rarely have people there at the time I ride, I guess I avoid the situation. Not so fussy about older horses, just the babies!!
I am person from hell when selling horses, if I dont like the way someone rides I will not allow them to continue!!!
I certainly dont mind if others ride my horses, judges ride them at shows etc, and I do have people I ask over to test ride them etc, but I am defo' very picky!!

I hate anybody else riding my horses especially when i'm not there, not so bad if I am there depending on who it is/ why they are riding! I hate the though of people tacking up my horses even more

I am happy for anyone to ride my mare as long as I am present to see how they get on. Did lend my mare to a friend to do a BE intro event once when I wasn't there because her horse was lame. She has never returned the offer for me to ride hers even though I taught her how to ride XC as she'd only ever SJ'd.

I am still a little miffed about this...!

When we were in England and working full time I replied to/placed ads for people to hack Jazz out. One left her with a 'harder' mouth and a buck, one couldn't catch her and a neighbour reported she'd seen her kick out at Jazz in frustration, one left her nappy and a few who tried her (told me they were very confident!)nearly cried with nerves when she did the ickle ist shy. I did check them out beforehand but obviously not well enough. Luckily Jazz is a very forgiving, genuine horse BUT NO I WOULD NOT LET JUST ANYONE RIDE HER AGAIN !!! Sorry for caps but I really feel strongly on this one.

* we did have 1 lovely girl though, if you're reading this Claire get back into horses girl, You were fab

Anyone i deem competent can ride mine on the flat and in my company......i'd be extremely picky about letting anyone jump Bo though

I guess anyone who was instructing me, or competing at a level above me...but even then i'd be quite choosy about their style of riding

I never minded until recently I let someone ride one of mine, and she rode terribly, sat right back on the saddle so my horse couldn't use his back properly and pulled on his mouth the whole time, despite me telling her he had a really soft mouth. My poor horses just followed me and my other horse as best as he could. Did not want to be rude and say anything about her awful riding so just cut the ride short and got back as quickly as possible. She is now going round saying that my horses is horrible to ride, a real donkey and cant' extend or do a flying change (he can do it in his sleep) never again will I let anyone who I don't know really well on either of my horses.

I would let someone as long as I had seen them ride previously

Don't think Bailey's particularly hard to ride, but can get a bit up tight and upset if you get tense on him so they'd need to be quite chilled:p

I have to say i'm a little cautious about who rides my horse. One major reason is that we let a friend ride her and one day my instructor walked onto the yard and caught her slapping my horse round the face!

yeah am facing that decision at the mo. i`m on holiday for a week and am wondering whether to let my friend ride skye or not. shes good and confident and has ridden skye twice before but she dosent ride at all like me and she doesnt get them to work in an outline like i was told to every time by my instructor so still trying to make my mind up lol

Depends on the horse. One horse I have anyone can ride. another cant cope with anyone else and will panic so its not safe. I would always assess the riding capabilility though!!

I dont generally mind, as long as I've seen them ride him first. I would never just let anyone on him without seeing how they get on. Beau goes well for just baout everyone EXCEPT me!! SO its nice ot see him showing off

. And if he doesnt like them he will let it be known, so he picks them really.

Thankfully only had one bad one, and that was because more an age/knowledge clash issue.

My friends ride my horses. My trainer is obviously welcome to any, she always lets me compete hers and I am after all only what her and mum have made me. My friends come out hacking the summer- after all, I am yet to meet someone who cant love Bertha- bloody amazing horse she is.

I let anyone ride my horses - the majority of people I know ride very well, a considerable number significantly better than me. If they sucked at riding, there would be some restrictions, like me being present, and only on certain horses - I can only think of a couple people who would be in the later category!

The majority of the people I would not worry at all - even if reports came back they slapped my horse around the face - if they did it, I probably would have too!! I guess I am lucky I have been able to surround myself with excellent horseman!!

I don't allow anyone else to ride William except my dressage instructor.
That's just because at the moment he is in intensive schooling.
I would let kids ride Jess, but not adults as she was always carefull with the kids and wouldn't change gait unless she was asked twice, but would throw different things into the mix when adults got on her ie. canter side ways and over react to legs and hands. Bless her i do miss her..

Yes I let anyone ride my horses. They are all good for any level of rider so I don't have a problem with allowing people to ride them. Half of them are trail horses anyway so anyone and everyone regardless of whether they have ridden before or not get on these horses and are fine.

My personal horses I wouldn't let beginners on but that is because they are both young and I don't want anyone messing up what I have done with them. I let my 10 year old daughter ride whichever horse she wishes however she doesn't have free rein to take out Jet as he is a sensitive guy and she can be a bit harsh on him at times.

In England I only knew competent riders so yes again I would allow them to ride nearly all of the horses I had. Only one was an exception but that was because she used to try to kill anyone who would ride her, except me.
