The walls of the trailer popped if his weight when on them?
Its the plastic material thats gone rigid and saggy so the large air pockets pop when pushed.
It would happen both sides of him.

I would just like some feedback on whos horse would and wouldnt be bothered by this if possible,

My horse would probably be terrified!
Not totally sure what you mean though, by the plastic going rigid and popping???
 
Sorry i didnt make it clear the leatherish covering over the partition and on the walls i think it has padding behind has become loose and sagged at the bottom so it is now a large air pocket. If it was soft it would just squash but its gone quite hard like plastic so as the air pocket gets squashed it makes a pop noise! Its a well known make and they say its a known issue but have never heard of it causing a problem with horses travelling.
Its right where there body would go each side
 
Mine wouldn't get chance to find out, when 'soft' plastic becomes rigid, it is more likely to break and create sharp shards, which I would not like to risk near one of mine.
 
assuming this is the same trailer you mentioned before -
1) have you phoned the manufacturer direct?
2) Ask another dealers opinion
3) If I remember rightly it is just out of warranty so argue your point. The trailer padding "is not fit for purpose" if it fails after one year.
We will ask a contact of ours if he knows of this issue and what he would suggest

This would worry me too. OP, in answer to your question - my mare would definitely panic at any "popping", the gelding (the one that travels!) wouldn't care, but he's not afraid of anything x
 
Mine wouldn't be happy and she's a great traveller! Think of the possible danger to your horse(s) if they did freak at this? Particularly whilst moving and the noise at its peak...it could end badly!
 
Thanks for all your replies, it is the trailer i mentioned before. It is a known problem with these but the manufacturers and dealers answer is they have never heard before that a horse would be bothered by the noise thats why i wanted other opinions.

As long as the pop noise isn't a sign of something linked to the trailer's durability or safety, I would say that a pop noise can be so much, from a discrete pop, to a big POP!

I don't think that it is always that quiet inside all trailers, neither when you're loading, unloading or travelling, so to me, the question would be how noticeable the pop noise is, when it is mixed with other noises? E.g. I presume that a horse is more likely to lean against the walls, when the trailer is moving, do you know how silent/not silent it is in your trailer when it is moving?
 
My horse wouldn't care at all.
But if you're worried, could you not just drill a little hole in each of the air pockets so rather than the air popping, it would just flow out of the pocket when leant on?
