Just had to share this! I've had my mare, Duchess for four years now and she is definitely a forever horse. When I got her, she had been beaten and passed from pillar to post. She has scars on her face where she has been hit and was understandably very nervous. Having said all this, she is the most uncomplicated horse I have ever ridden and is a genuine push-button type and got my confidence back for me. However, she has never been affectionate and has always seemed scared to show any affection towards me. Also, she injured her suspensory ligament over a year ago and despite the best veterinary care, remains unsound at the moment. I've just bought a friesian gelding as i can't ride her and she seems glad of the company. I have just gone to the paddock to check on them both and he came over for a scratch and a fuss, and then.....so did she!! she has just stood with me in the field for 20 minutes with her head in my arms and fallen alseep!! I can't believe it!!! Sorry but i just had to share it!!!
