I was sooo pleased with my coblet today! I've been doing dressage with him over the winter to get him working correctly and listening, and just settling into his new home. He was skitty with his jumping when we first moved and it put me off, especially since the arena with the jumps is a smaller space than we were used to jumping in.
Anyway today my sister rode him and shes not a confident jumper but I put up a mini course of crosses and she actually asked if she could jump the course once she'd done the first one! that was a supprise in itself lol. I got on and we did some transition work but he wasn't concentrating so we did the course and picked up the correct leg after every jump! my mum put them up to about 2' and again he was picking up the correct leg after every jump, even doing flying changes when he got it wrong! I was really pleased with him and my mum put it up to 2'6 ... again he was an angel, he just flew them cutting corners and giving them plenty of room. I'd forgotten what it felt like to get that adrenalin rush as he canters as fast as he can and flies them, doing it all really cleanly. My mum put them up again and we did a lovely smooth 2'9 course and then called it a day. I was speechless and we left the arena looking very pleased with ourselves
We haven't done that since last summer, and his corner cutting has improved so much compared to then! Got a comp in a few weeks, hopefully by april we can go up to the intermediate
has anyone else re-discovered jumping recently? and has anyone else noticed just how much a good dressage base can improve their averagely able horses to achieve?
