Was all set for a lie in. My OH was going to work early but was going to pop in and see the school builders on his way. Am justttttt drifting off to sleep, when...........

Phone goes off! !Hannah I need you NOW, girls have trashed all the tape and the stakes and tape are all over the field and Puz is down" then then phone cut off!

Leg it out of the house, to the horses. Get there, grab headcollar from tack room and get to the field - to find that Puzzle was down - the bottom of the hill! Tape entwined round all her legs, stakes everywhere, but thankfully just stood still eating. Mare stood next to her, also eating. Begin to untangle Puz from the tape (who stands like a dream, I love my stupidly easy 16month old!!) and then frantically chuck everything to one side and check for cuts/puncture wounds.

Not a scratch on either of them. Puz had lots of lines around her legs but only on the hair, not one scratch or cut on her skin. Despite obviously galloping down the hill (have seen the skid marks) with about 8 stakes and loads of tape trailing behind her, not a mark on her!

Tape is totally ripped to shreds, can't believe she's not hurt! God, horses, who'd have em?!

That is very scary! You were very lucky - a horse on our yard did this last year and a spike a trailing post punctured her fetlock, just missing the major structures of the leg - 12 weeks of box rest and she is scarred but actually sound and was back in work until she broke herself again!

Ye, shes short of a few brain cells, my little one ;) 16months old and the best behaved of all of our horses (the other two are 12!), you honestly couldnt want for a better mannered horse.

Am so glad she is ok, though god knows how she managed it in the first place!!!

A wise head on those young shoulders by the sounds of things. Well in part anyway - at least she stood still to be rescued and didn't panic even if she did cause havoc in the first place!

You must have had your heart in your mouth on your way to the yard wondering what you were going to find. Glad they were all okay.

Thanks =] shes so daft. Had this face on her like, "ehhh, mummy? I'm stuck...?!" Bless her. Silly girl. No idea how she managed it though it has ripped in at least 4 places. Can only think she got her leg through it or something and it was the panicking that ripped it - but its normally attached to a stake through the wooden fence - the stake is in the ground still so she must have been stressing enough to pull the tape clean through the stake! Daft mare. She did get big cuddles!

Gratuitous "I'm a dense pony" photos:

If it was anything really bad, I'd have expected it to show up straight away? So hopefully as Kerilli says, she is just feeling the after-effects of charging about. I hope she feels better in the morning!

If its anything bad I agree with you it woulda shown up. There isnt any heat in her legs or any cuts or anything. She's probably just feeling sore. I hope so. Love my baby girl even if she is dense LOL.

Silly Puzz!

'Mummy, mummy, mummy, I ran around and round and round and round and now my legs are sooooooooooore, I can haz sympathy vote?'

Thankfully she's fine this morning apart from a very slight stiffness on her off fore. She saved my skin today! Was walking across the field, slipped on the mud, reached out and grabbed instinctively - got her leg, and she stood still so I landed gracefully on the floor, not with a thump!

'Honestly Mummy, first you get my tootsies stuck and then you try and pull my leg off:mad:. I need extra carrots to get over this blatant Puzz-abuse.'

:p:D
