Just curious - what seat type, size and flap type do you have? What made you makethe choices you made?

I have a flat seat, size 1 as this is what the fitter thought was most like my existing saddles - I tried a size 2 but didn't like it so much.

I have the new XC flaps and the fixed block dressage flaps.

I had to have the new XC flaps as it suited my long thigh the best, and I didn't want moveable dressage blocks as I would prob mess up the positioning

Mine is quite old and there wasn't as much choice back then. There were 3 seat styles - mine isn't the deepest and isnt the flat one.
I am onto my 2nd panel. To start with I was on the widest one they did with the widest gullet with tabs as my horse has very wide spinous processes. They only did 4 styles at this time. She started in the 0 plate, went up to a size 3 and then needed an even wider panel/gullet (they now do one that is wider behind the wither as well as in front) as her topline had got so much bigger. She is currently in the widest panel and size 2 plate.
I have the point strap on the girthing arrangement on the right hand side of my saddle only to accomodate the fact that one of my horses shoulders is slightly further back than the other.
I have GP flaps which can be moved from a forward jumping position to a dressage position. I have mine in the forward position all the time mind even for dressage and I always use the front stirrup bars because I'm quite short in the leg and I find it much more comfortable than on the back bars - my dressage instructor says my position is better on the front bars anyway. I have the smallest size knee rolls which can be removed and exchanged although I've never had any reason to change them.
I have a WOW girth but most of the time still use the wintec girth as its so comfy and a nuumed numnah.

Have you got any pics of them? I've never seen a wow (other than that pink one that came out)
I don't understand how/why there are various bits? Is it one saddle that you can interchange bits of? Please excuse my ignorance!!

The picture doesnt do it justice it really it is a lovely looking saddle, as the Wows can look a bit strange but this certainly doesnt.

I love it already & ive only had it since monday.

How did you get to 'Trial' one without having to pay for it up front? I'd give my eye teeth to do that... but had someone out yesterday who'll sell me one after a ten minute 'trial' in the school, which isn't ideal

If you don't want to broadcast the name of the saddler, can you pm me?

I have the deep seat with the dressage fixed block (standard). I tried the giant versions at my fitting but found them far too constraining. The very deep seat wasnt available when I got my wow but I dont think I would have liked it because as with the giant blocks, I dont like to feel too "held" in place. The flaps are on the forward option to allow more room for my leg length, particularly as Im in a 16.5 inch seat due to the shortness of my horse's back.

My saddle is black but with the white stitching option on the flaps which is shown on this one (although doesnt show the right dressage flaps for mine):-

Love it

I had an email from First Thought yesterday saying £1595 whatever the combination of seat/panels/flaps

so no, I don't think suede seat or stitching cost extra

just that you'll get oily finger marks on the suede... or maybe that's just my paranoia...

That is the only problem -the minimum 6 week wait!!!! I bought a Korrector pad to see me through till when saddle arrived!!

I have Seat: 18” Deep

Flap: Fixed block dressage flap + 1”

Panel: 18” DDWG with tab no stitch line

Headplate width: No 2

Colour Black Buffalo ( I think suede can look tatty after a while and is difficult to look after)

I also have the zig zag girth as an ordinary girth slipped forward and cut into my mares elbows.

I also have a slight problem with mine which my saddler is investigating. It may have to go back!!!!!! NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

im off to see wow on monday to look at options (no lorry at moment but they have said dont need horse anyway). will prob go for extra deep seat with those flaps which look like a more normal dressage saddle. Reason my boy changes shape, plus plan to start a family so figured buy one while i can afford it. and also may sell my boy to get something bit saner to ride out so saddle will fit another horse. if that makes sense.

I have a 17" deep seat with GP flaps (moveable block). Went for this combination to event. Seat is deep enough for dressage but not deep enough to interfere with jumping. Wanted moveable blocks so I could drop them down the panel when riding long for dressage.
Colour is havanna underside and a chestnut sort of colour on top. Went for this combination as I have 2 bridles of different colours (Flat and jump) so saddle matches both

Arrived at my decision as friend has 2 wow saddles (deep and flat seat) which she kindly lent me for a few weeks to try. Fortunately she also fits then so she adjusted saddles to fit my lad. The difference in his performance was the only convincing I needed.
Will take a pic this afternoon.

I have size 1 seat on XC seat, with XC flaps.
It's in dark brown buffalo (very dark, almost black), with military (virtually red) trim - love it!

I've got;
No 1 deep seat
fixed block jumping- angled forwards
fixed block dressage- angled back
WOW girth
Smallest head plate they make (and it was generous!) with gusseted pannels
In black leather with nubuck seat and blocks.

In all honesty after the first few weeks I haven't really used the dressage flaps, as I like to do alot of fast canter work, so usually ride short.
Also, I like the nubuck, but it looks really dull. I wanted suede, but it always wears badly so though nubuck would be good compromise. If I was getting another one I would just get their normal leather- it's so lovely anyway.
