I want to try an asymmetrical adjustment on my saddle as it is rolling ever so slightly to the left. I have a saddle fitting kit, but can’t remember if it needs to be left front and back right or vice versa??

Just to add – saddle is a good fit but I broke my foot (and messed up my ankle) in march and don’t think I’ve got even weight distribution through both my ankles yet. Horse is hyper sensitive and has started protesting! I think its probably me….would it be acceptable to make an adjustment for the rider in this instance???

Thanks :)

Ive got a Wow saddle and would personally not try and adjust it myself, id get a proper fitter out - especially if your horse is protesting.

Thanks Tempi...very sensible! :) I have the kit as I've been on a saddle fitting day, so have had tuition (and have a certificate!!) Its a very interesting day and I'd recommend to other owners. Anyway...I have the paper work at home that details about asymetry but OH has 'tidied up'. Was just hoping someone could refresh my memory? I'm not trying to be cheap, just interested in how my weight affects the saddle. If I have a fiddle and saddle still moves and/or horse not happy I will get them out.

And when I said protesting I meant falling in.

I'm a self appointed expert ! :D

If you are wonky, and your saddle had no extra adjustment front or back, then the easiest thing to do is to set to atmospheric - add a pump for losses and ride with valves open for one minute and get your other half to close it up with you sat very still.

Alternative you can do a diagonal adjustment by front / back opposite, but you need to know which side you are wonky on.

ah yes, didn't think of opening the valves and allowing my weight to adjust it..... Its my right ankle that I'm not putting weight thru and my saddle is shifting slightly to the left (presumably because of more weight in left stirrup) so that would be a left front / right back?? We were encouraged at the fitting day to play as at the end of the day you go back to atmospheric and start again. :)
