Hi,
can anyone help? I bought a wow saddle with flair last year, and have had it checked 4 timed by different qualified fitters, yet it still slips to one side. I am finding it terribly frustrating. I stuggle to ride straight on a wonky saddle. My horses back is checked every 6 months. I did not have this problem with traditional tree saddles, but changed to flair as my mares weight changed winter/ summer I had to keep getting my saddle flocked.
As she as aged her weight has stabilised but the wow saddle still slips. Not sure I want to jump with it!
Anyone else had this? Hellpppp!

I have a WOW and love it but you do need to get a good wow fitter which a few and far between!! Are you sure that you have got the right type of panels for you mare???. I have gone from warmblood to TB panels in the past year and a number 3 headplate to a number 1!!!!!!!!!!!. It was one of the reasons I brought the WOW as my mare changes shape so drastically through the year.

It sounds like you need the saddle asymetrically flocked.
Like berry, i would also say are the panels correct?
Does the horse move the same both reins, is one hind more powerful/supple and does the saddle always slip to the same side?
The other consideration is you- are you crooked?
What girth do you use- an H girth may be worth considering to help stabilise the saddle more. The horse may even need the point strap on on just one side.

So basically there are lots of things to consider. It can be hard to find a good thorough fitter though.

I would email first thought equine and explain the situation and see if they can advise you. They are sometimes slow at responding but if you persevere then they get there in the end.

Thanks
in answer to your questions; my mare is better on one rein, I am crooked, and the headplate has not been changed in 9 months. Strange as she changes shape alot.
I have the h girth and have it girthed uneven to pull the saddle back. I noticed today the saddle lifts off her back when I ride.
I think contacting wow is a must.
Such I shame as I wad hoping this would be an end to my nightmare with saddles!!
Thanks for the advice

It probably will be an end to your troubles- when its set up right. One of mine took many hours to get right at first and needs checking at least once a month (i do it myself!). You just have to work through one thing at a time. You cant do the numerous adjustments with any other saddle, so dont panic too much. Contact first thought for advice and maybe one of the fitters that you feel is the best and see if they can come and help you work through it.

If you are crooked that is more than enough to make the saddle move, as well as the horse being uneven. You just have to fiddle around until you find the set up that counteracts these asymetries. From personal experience if you cant do it with a wow then i dont think you will find a saddle that will do better!

Good luck

I have just had my Wow saddle fitted to my no withered flat back mare!! There will always be some form of 'roll' depending on what panels you have in. I have also just invested in an H Girth (expensive) but very very good and helped massivly in stablising the saddle more. Had i wanted to i would get my panels changed if i was competing her, but my mare is in foal (hopefully) so i just need something that fits as shes not ridden that much anyways.
