Am looking at wow saddles at the mo, am looking for a dressage saddle for my sensitive TB, she's wide with big shoulders. what are these saddles like? and what about fitting, sounds very confusing to me.... Alternatively what dressage saddle would you recommend for a TB? Currently she's in a Thorowgood T6 gp, the only saddle that she doesn't buck in, or collapse when wearing (her back is fine... frequently checked due to previous issues)... have tried albions, a made to fit ideal (don't talk to me about those saddles grrr

) and wintecs all which didn't suit her.... I don't want to spend a fortune so will probably look second hand. any suggestions gratefully received,

I have been looking at them.... her previous owner had one years ago... has anyone had problems with the flocked ones? I've had problems with the cair air panels in the past on other wintec saddles so would prefer flocked....
Thankyou the_winter

The wows are lovely and can be altered to accommodate just about any shape.

There are problems with buying a wow second hand though. Unless you know quite specifically what panels and such you are looking for, you may end up needing to replace them which immediatly sets you back £400 for a new set.

While the saddle is highly adjustable (because its modular), there seems to be a notion that any saddle will fit any horse. This is half true... they can be altered to fit any horse but buying new parts for them is very pricey

The width is no issue with the wows since they have headplates that go considerably wider than anything else on the market but the panels do vary a lot and you'd need to ensure these were correctly fitted to her. Flair adjustment also needs to be specific to her as air, if over filled, is extremely hard on the horses back. In addition to that, the saddlers use the flair to ensure even-ness in the saddle while the horse builds up muscle. Generally therefore, its altered a few times in the early days.

Im a wow convert though so that would always be my primary choice for a saddle. Albions I dislike since ive seen so many made to measure ones cause huge problems to horses backs (aside from that, i dont find them very comfortable).

i also have a wow, which was on the horse i have just sold and it was fatastic...hopefully i will feel the same when i find a new one!

Just to check has anyone had problems with sensitivity from cair panels or any problems with the panels evenness? And can you get them replaced with flock if there is a problem?

Thanks for everyones replies

My horse isnt a great fan of his cair panels, but is better when they have warmed up. The saddle itself fits him beautifully, so we use a prolite pad which solves his sensitivity to it

The flair pannals are much softer than cair and more moveable when on the horse.

My fitter charges £30 for a fitting, which is refundable if you buy one. It's a proper trial which lasts about 3-4 hrs. Why don't you have a fitting done, at least then you'll know if you like the saddle, and if your horse does- cheaper than £400 for new pannals

I would def go WOW. The saddles put you in a superb position & my horse's top line has improved beyond all recognition in only a few months.
