WOW Saddle

Yep, got one.

They are a) an aquired taste and b) only as good as your fitter.

Not everyone like riding on one and not all horses like them. You need to try on out first.

You also need to have a GOOD fitter. A wow saddle can be adjusted to fit any horse but you have to have the right combination of panel types, seat types and gullet - there is a huge choice and they need to suit your horse.

Buying news means you can get the exact panels etc style you need (assumming your fitter is any good) but second hand is much much cheaper. HOWEVER you really need to know what you're looking for - you cannot just buy any WOW saddle off ebay and have it fitted.

I bought Kalli a WOW saddel a while ago. Had to be second hand due to the price and it took me AGES to find all the right parts she needed. She loves it.

I rode my mare in one which was borrowed from my train and she seemed to go ok in - she was in a Wintec Close Contact, but this was proving too tight on her shoulders and restricting her moveent so after rigoous testing in DR, SJ, XC we thought we'd go for one and get a WOW fitter to come out and advise us. I like the fact that you could have a dressage and jumping saddle in one by changing the flaps - this was good for my big-shouldered mare.

In October 2006 we had the saddle fitted and by March 2007 after a LOT of conversations/heated discussions with the Head of WOW we got the fitter to take it back as it wasn't fit for purpose. The saddle was making my horse sore, fluid lumps would come up under the panel after riding - pics if you want to see. The headplate was changed 3 or 4 times. It was all back to front - lower behind than in front regardless of headplate and weighed an absolute ton. We had it assed by our "now" saddle fitter and she couldn't believe how badly it fitted. All in all we had a bad experience with WOW and I would never buy one again!

It's personal preference and simply down to whether it work for you and your horse. All I will say is you need to make sure your regional WOW fitter is a good one!! Even with that, unfortunately I would never buy one again.

Yes, I love mine! I've got dr & sj flaps, & just had it adjusted from a very wide ISH to a narrow TB, no bother. Plus it's fab for my wrecked SI joint. Thanks to the WOW, I would no longer class myself as having a bad back.

Jess - it's a shame you had such trouble with your WOW becasue they CAN be amazing saddles :( Just goes to prove though that they really are only as good as the fitter.

Kallibear, I agree. I really enjoyed riding in mine, especially XC, so behind the all the difficulties I was a bit gutted to lose it... Still have a nice WOW stud girth though :)
As everyone seems to say, it definitely proves that they really are only as good as the person they are fitted by.

I rode a young warmblood in a wow saddle, it didnt look like it had beed fitted well but a combo of him being bouncy and the saddle also being very bouncy i found myself having much difficulty staying put especially when landing from a jump.. Only ever ridden this horse once and i am quite light so it may have just been all the factors.. It was quite something to watch i must say!
:)

I saw them at a stall in Badminton and fell in love with the style and would really like a black and havanna one as my bridle is black and havanna.

If anyone has one for sale I'd be well interested.

Does it matter what size you buy?
