I sat on some WOW saddles yesterdy ay YHL- dressage saddles only and i was pleasantly surprised at how comfy and secure they were. I have seen them at other shows and always thought they looked big and bulky and not nice to ride in but i sat in thier deep and extra deep dressage saddles with the big knee roll all the way down the saddle and the half knee roll and i really liked the feel of them. I have a brochure but cant find any prices.

Does any one else have one - I see Richard Davison rides in one and several eventers. and can someone give me a balkl point figure. Do they come up second hand?

mine would be for a WBxTB 5 year old who is basically like a WB, big shoulders and big movement.

I think they are around around £1500. My friend had one but after a week of having it she sent it back, it didn't sit right on the horses back and wasn't comfy.

I wouldn't see much point in a second hand one because they are fitted for each individual horse. You can buy different parts for one SH tho.

WOW I believe pretty much doubled their prices earlier this year, so I think brand new you're looking at about £2k. You could do what I did though - I got my WOW fitter to try all the right bits on my horse so I knew what sizes etc. to get then I went out and searched for them off Ebay and website ads second hand. Then when I got all the parts, simply took them to the fitter who put them all together. Think it probably worked out at about £1k in the end, still cheaper than brand new. I love mine, its not a dressage one - just a GP type which I jump in mainly but I find it so comfy and the horses seem to like them too.

Depending on the options you chose you can start at about £1500 going up to over £2k. I have bought saddles second hand from between £500 and £850. Get a fitter out (fitters vary widely in their competence and a good fitter is vital, so get recommendations) and find out what parts you require (seat, flaps and panels) and then you can source second hand if you want.

I have had a GP WOW for several years now.

It is best to get one of their trained fitters out and show you what is wanted for a good fit.

The gullets are changeable and so it will fit many horses very easily.

Like you I thought that they looked bulky and very different but, sitting on it does make you go "WOW!"

I love my WOW

Sadly my horse does not love her WOW

Having real drama as too what to do.

A good fitter is a MUST. Think that is our problem.

WOW customer service however is ****.

Sorry for swearing. I spent a LOT of money, I want a saddle that my horse likes, not this drama. >:-(

ETA my friend also has a WOW, adjusted recently by same fitter, she is also having problems.

We've both phoned WOW HO, they are not interested, and fitter says saddle fits ?

Out of 4 horses at our yard whose WOW fitted by this fitter, 1 owner has sold her WOW and 2 of us are having problems.

Amazing saddles...I tried everything on my horse, and it was the only thing he would allow on his back (without wanting to get me off). I borrowed one from someone on the same yard at the time, tried it for a few days, and my horse was transformed. So, I arranged for a saddle fitter to come out. I wanted the deep seat dressage Competitor, and we tried every combination possible to get the right fit for my horse. The fitter then ordered one for me, it cost about £2300, it's made with grained buffalo leather, it's gorgeous :)
I really love it, it's comfy, secure, and most importantly, my horse is much better in it, he has really filled out a lot through the shoulder with this saddle - because it give them room to.
I would've liked to get it cheaper on ebay - buy all the parts etc - but it would've taken too long to get everything I needed separately. I know someone who has now bought two complete wow saddles on ebay though, and is perfectly happy with them, they were about £750 each. You can get something that is 75% right, then buy the bits you need as they become available, and sell the bits you don't need. It is very very important to get an experienced saddle fitter to do the fitting though. I used one that sells all makes of saddles, not just wow, she's been in business about 20 years, and was a real perfectionist about getting the fit right (took about 4 hours!!)

Would I buy another? Yes.
Would I recommend wow to friends? Yes.
Any problems with it? no
