really interested in the WOW saddles in the dressage style

does anyone have one or rode in one before?

really just looking for the pros and cons!

and does anyone no the price for them i no they are a bit on the expensive side but dont no how much?

Yes, Ive got the wow standard (fixed) dressage saddle and love it.

Pros for most people have to be the infinite adjustability. They can be made to fit the most oddly shaped horses and can be altered to corespond with the horse's development.

The inclusion of flair and the lateral movement of the tree tend to encourage for a lot of muscle development and allow horses to really use themselves. A lot of horses show an increase in their length of stride when switched to a wow and usually go up a couple of tree widths from a conventional saddle.

ETS that the flair also gives superior weight distribution in comparison with conventional flocking.
Cons? They feel a bit peculiar to begin with and some people never seem to be able to get used to them.

Price - Around £1400 from new I believe at the moment, but you'd have to contact First Thought to be absolutly sure on that.

They are around £1500 so quite expensvie, if you look on their website there is LOADS of info!

I know there are a few people on here who have one

They were £1450 ish last May when I was interested. I think its a £50 call out to have a fitter visit you which is credited if you buy a saddle. I loved the look and how versatile they are but decided against it for budget reasons.

I know that the website has loads of info - check there

I have got the fixed block dressage saddle with a deep seat. I got it just before xmas and it cost £1495, I also got a pair of jumping flaps which were another £470. You also need to budget for a short girth and depending on what you already have, new numnahs which attach to the D's. The quality of the leather is lovely, and you get loads of choices.
My main reason for getting a wow was that my boy is very difficult to fit, but the wow is lovely on him. Also, he is a 5yo who lacks muscle, so i'm hoping he will change shape. The wow should be easy to adjust as neccessary. I am hoping it will turn out to be good value.
I've not had it long but so far am pleased, i actually managed some sitting trot in it (big acheivement!), and am finding it easier to sit to his canter. It does feel a little strange at first, but you soon get used to it- for me it felt 'wide' over the twist, but i don't notice now.

Here is a (not great) pic;

Fran123 put a really good pic in the photo gallery the other day.

thanks for the pictures have been on the website and its really good! but just wanted to no if it does actuall do what is says! thanks for your replys guys

yep i love mine had it for a couple of months now, really cant fault it as of yet.
if you can afford one i would say you have nothing to lose.
i have the fixed block giant dressage, and a set of fixed block jumping flaps

I have a deep seat fixed block dressage Wow and cannot sing it's praises enough. I suffer with a bad back and this is the only saddle that caused back ache. I'm lucky enough to live 20 mins away from their base and they have given me absolutely superb service.
They may be expensive but it will fit any horse with adjustment and flaps trees etc are all interchangeable.
Can't recommend them highly enough.

erm no they didnt me anyway, however i think after a good few hours of fitting you wil be happy!! or even if u want a little time to think about it they shouldnt force you into it!
good luck and let us know how u get on

definatly worth a try!

Well that teaches me to read what I write before I post - what I meant to say was it's the only saddle that hasn't given me back ache, it's my age or maybe the madness is coming back!

I was at my fitting for close to 4 hours, so you do get plenty of time to try them out.

Im sure you won't regret it, they really are fabulous saddles!

ETS - let us know how you get on if you decide to go ahead with a fitting!

i have used WOW saddles for many years and they are the product of the very much thought .I am a proffesional rider who has been involved with the testing and development.Currently on my yard of 22 horses 10 have WOW saddles all ages all styles. on one horse that came in for training he was so fat and unfit he underwent 4 head plate changes as he built muscle and changed shape. that would have been impossible to accomadate with a conventional saddle. Make sure you contact First thought equine ltd with respect to trained WOW fitters this is very important as you need someone who really understands the concept of these saddles and who fits them regularly as pooly fitted you may just not get a genuine feel for how much benifit these saddles offer you and your horse.
