After starting the morning with the daily poop clean-up and bed wash, I just totted up how much this little episode has cost me so far:

£90+ on the vets - and I get a 10% discount, so without that it would have been the round £100
£30 on bedding
£15 of extra petrol ferrying the patient to and from the vets and going to the shop for said bedding

And this is for a tummy upset - thank goodness I have insurance for anything bigger!

Oh, and I'm going to have to go back to the vets this morning I think, as I've run out of Pro-Kolin and didn't realise last night I only had one dose left:o Hope they're open at my local one, or I'm going to have to make a 40-odd mile round trip to their big surgery:(

I sympathise, my vets bills have been nearly £200 a month for the last 3 months, and that is with reduced price visits to the horse etc. :(
What did they say about Henry last night, have they run tests etc?

He said his temp is still normal and he's not dehydrated, and he did perk up in there as well. We have got some buscopan, which is doggy immodium I think, he gave me some electrolyte powder to put in his water bowl to perk him up, and said if it doesn't start to clear over the weekend to go back and they would look again and analyse a sample.

He does seem better in himself, but still had an accident in his bed last night:(

Poor Henry. I think buscopan is a painkiller, they give it to colic cases so probably designed to stop stomach spasms or similar.
If he doesn't drink the water with the electolyte in (which they often don't) try encouraging him to take some with a spoon, but watch he doesn't stop drinking from his bowl because he doesn't like the taste. Fingers crossed he will improve over the weekend.

lol he hadn't touched it, so just took the bowl to him with a spoon:o He kind of sniffed the first spoonful suspiciously and took it eventually, took the second spoonful fine, then dived into the bowl and drank the lot:D

Aah right, I'll shut up then, I have memories of dogs going "Eurgh couldn't possibly touch that". :D

If Henry was that way inclined, he would be in this mess now! I have a feeling that touching something dodgy was got him in trouble in the first instance.

GAH! Spudlet, I do hope he's turning a corner and will soon do a solid poop!

Trust me, when he does EVERYONE will know about it:D It will be fireworks, the 1812 Overture and dancing girls all the way!:D:D

Poor Henry!:(

Buscopan is an anti spasmodic so it will stop the gut from erratic spasms. Should stop his gut from having big erratic spasms and slow down the passage of food through his gut.

Sounds like a diet of scrambled egg, chicken and rice and Bovril for the mutt for the next few days - and beans on toast for you for the next month whilst you pay for the bugger!!;):D:D:D

Try the chemist for Pro-Kaolin, or any decent pet shop, it's doesn't need a prescription and the Vet's will only charge you extra! It's worth buying it cheap online and stocking up for next time... and there will be a next time :p :D
