Cudo and I got to tune show yesterday around 2:30. The rest if these comments are from people close to the situation.

I had him tacked and myself dressed and I walked up to the ring with John to see what class they were on. A 5 yr old jumper was in the ring as I looked on. A friend and get 5 yr old were next. Her trainers are good friends and I was standing with the husband and 2 yr old son. At that moment the 5 yr old jumper in the ring dumped his rider and decided to head for the in gate, at speed. I'm not exactly what happened but essentially the horse jumped the gate, and by virtue of how we were standing, ran me over and spared my friend's husband who was holding their 2 yr old son.

Like me the 2 yr old had to get stitches.

It's been a day now and I'm still in the hospital. Cudo is reportedly fine. Hopefully they let me out today and we're can get everyone home.

So that's the fun. 15 new stitches and another concussion.

How awful. Hope you are ok.
There was a horrendous very similar accident when I was a teenager at our old yard on competition day. A horse in the ring put its foot through a filler and panicked, bolted towards the entrance where spectators and horses were waiting. It jumped the gates and took out a load of people and horses, flattening them. People were ambulanced to hospital. Very, very scary.

Hope you make a full recovery soon x

I'm home tonight. Very tired ad John and I only got 4 hours cumulative sleep in the last 26 hours. I'm in my own bed tonight with all my dogs around me. Cudo is home in his regular field.

The show has been lovely and have us a box to enjoy the big classes tomorrow night in!

Now if I can just sleep. Can only lie on my left side or on my back. Finally washed all the blood out of my hair. That was a bit nasty. But warm and in bed now. Just need to sleep. Counting sheep at the mo

That’s awful - you seem to be having terrible luck at the moment. Two freak accidents in one summer! I hope you’ve managed to get some sleep and that it heals quickly.

OMG what a terrifiying thing to happen :o

When you see people sitting around the edges of arenas I do think that it wouldn't take much for them to be in the way. I guess you were lucky really, the scar should be hidden by your eyebrow hopefully :)

More fun. As I expected from the re-tellings, my helmet indeed gave it's life during the crash. Luckily it's International Helmet Awareness weekend so helmets are 20-25% off!!!! So ordering a replacement now. It was technically in year two with me since I bought it in August of 2018. So it's cheaper to buy a new one from the Helmet awareness sale.

Hi everyone,

Here's the update video from yesterday. All things considered I am doing really well. I used my re-established car privileges today to go to work and see everyone for a bit. Then ran to the bank and the feed store. Sure I was a little tired afterwards but I am safe at home with all the dogs watching over me.

Cudo, Chad and Beau are relaxing outside since we have lovely weather and them being outside 24/7 is better for their bodies and minds and then I am not having to muck stalls every day. The weather will turn again at some point and they'll go back to coming in half the day, but while it's nice I figure it's a nice change for everyone.

So in this video you get to see and hear me. Since no one over there has met me let me promise you that I am really still myself and the time I need to get back to 100% will be done correctly and abiding all doctor's instructions.

And yes I have an accent (American) so I will probably sound weird.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

Thank you for including this. In a moment of questioning things well outside of my world, I sent messages to the main helmet brands that do not currently have a MIPS helmet on the market and I simply asked if they were intending to bring one to market.

Today I received my first reply, from Samshield. It's not a reply I quite honestly understood since they were suggesting that they didn't see any difference in the helmet results in testing. So they weren't doing it. But how on Earth would you be able to reproduce the brain's reaction to not being confined to a path that causes it to suffer a brain tear? I mean I understand the basic idea of what they're saying but all those bike and motorcycle helmet companies see the benefits. I can absolutely see the benefits and I'm hearing from others who can as well. At $1200 a pop for a Samshield and you still might suffer a brain tear when a $249 helmet would help you avoid it..... I mean I just don't get it.

That seems crazy to me too but then there are still people who dont wear any hats and/or top hats/beaglers that offer no protection 🤯🤯🤯

Despite subscribing to american and english magazines as well as reading a lot online I haven't seen a huge push on MIPs technology. I only became aware of it from the BETA fayre (british equestrian trade association) that is held annually to launch/showcase new products and then a tack shop/safety centre that I follow announced that they would be stocking the new technology and showcased it (A2B equestrian on fb/website if anyone interested) as they are market leaders for safety products
