What a day!
laugh.gif

took my horse hunting for the first time today! went with a goal of getting him to go forward more and to improve his jumping! and as a bonus, cross country schooling! we have done 1 PN and he has done 2.

started the day at a yard beside a xc course, and after ages of waiting, we were off! he took off in the first field for the first time EVER in his life

and jumped some logs and stone walls. then jumped a trakener with water running under it - very pleased with that one as he saw it and didnt back off!

we missed the next irish bank, as we had decided at that stage that as we were still quite fresh

but jumped the next bank, and he jumped straight on and launced himself straight back off again

then up a very steep hill, were we jumped a 1* cottage style fence, wven giving a lead over it! then on to the next cluster of fences, where i jumped a log with no ground line, and when i saw it i thought it looked about 1.10m, so wasnt worried. turns out it was an advanced fence

was told this by eventer friend.

then moved on to next area and jumped some more xc type fences, along with the more typical hunt style fences. we even gave a group a lead over a GIGANTIC triple bar/tiger trap with a HUGE drop behind it

then we jumped some ditches, corners and hedges. we missed one out because my friend had fallen off there and her pony had rolled on her

so we went back to the xc course, where we jumped a MASSIVE irish bank type fence, with a ditch in front. we jumped that twice just to make sure it wasnt a fluke

then at the next fence some ponies had stopped at it and they were standing at it so i had to wait till they had cleared

and then we galloped off to the water jump!

he has only been into water about 3 times, so we first jumped a log at the top of the mound and went down the steps into the water, and he went straight in
grin.gif
after we did this twice, we moved on to a big log a stride before a brush drop into the water which he had no worries about
grin.gif

we finished there, and i was soooo pleased with him

sorry for the self indulgent post
