I opened a new bale of wrapped hay yesterday to find that one area felt warm and wet to touch, I've pulled out all that I could but the whole bale smelt vinegary. It is not mouldy or dusty, the hay itself looks absolutely fine and now that it has been opened a day, the smell has improved. Is it safe to use now or should I bin the bale? I've googled but most of the advice is around haylage, rather than wrapped hay. Haven't dared tried yet to see if he'll actually eat it. Thoughts please!
