Wraps vs bandages?

Hi,
Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts/comments on the merits of using bandages vs support wraps (eg stable wraps available from Premier equine). I am talking in the stable for a horse on box rest who I have been advised to bandage due to a tendon problem. Just wondering really whether the wraps will provide the same support as bandages - like the idea of not having to mess about with bandages though!
Any comments gratefully received!

I personally think and prefer that bandages are better for support as long as they are well and evenly put on but I'm old school anyway so a lot of others will have preferences for wraps. I am convinced though, that properly put on bandages offer far better support which is what you want them for; if it was only warmth, I'd let you get away with wraps!
TBH, there's very little time difference particularly if you re wrap them as you unbandage.
 
Mine is in with tendon problems at the moment. I got a pair of boots in an effort to time save but am disappointed with them. Leg looks and feels much better after bandaging. I use them on the hind legs now its colder for circulation as they are starting to fill. Will use them in front however if I need someone else to do him at all and I'm not sure of their bandaging skills!
 
For me its bandaging all the way, I bandage to exercise too. I dont trust boots and I dont think that for a tendon injury, wraps would give enough support - but thats just me. Im very old fashioned!
I always bandaged my old lads legs (he was forever doing his tendons) from knee to pastern, right under the fetlock for added support. You just have to make sure that you are putting them on smoothly, and not too tight, and that they are changed regularly. x
 
Thanks guys, think I agree really - have just ordered some nice new pads to go under the banadages so I can throw out the rotten old gamgee Im currently using! Alot cheaper than a set of wraps too! Am sure my bandaging will be super efficient in 8 weeks time when he is allowed out again

I bandage as putting on wraps is too time consuming! I generally use the eskadron (or lamicell do an identical cheap version from the same factory) pads which are very user friendly and wash really well in the machine. They have kind of like a terry feel on the inside and since discovering these have chucked out all my other pads and fybagee!
