Has any body else found that their wellies don't seem to last very long? I currently have a pair of the Town and Country ones which are similar to the Hunter. They last me for about 3 months If I am lucky. They always split at the seam and always the right foot!! I am getting a bit frustrated as although not the most expensive they are £30.00 a pair which is not cheap either. The £10.00 specials from B & Q are too hard and rub my feet and the Hunters are'nt any better either. It would be nice to have a pair of wellies that will last through the winter and into the spring. Is that too much to expect?!!

Can anybody reccomend a pair that will last. I only wear them to muck out in and turnout/bring in my horses.

I gave up on Wellies and bought a pair of dubarry's , they've lasted me for ages compared to a pair of Hunter were lasting 4/6weeks of my abuse

It must be the way you walk!!

My mum has exactly the same problem, gets through a pair of wellies every few months, even hunters, whereas I have just had to replace my hunters because the tread has worn out and the soles are smooth! They are about 8 years old now!

Mine were a Christams present from a boyfriend in 2003 and despite almost daily wear for horses/work/ beating they are still in great condition

Boyfriend lasted as long as cheapo wellies

Hunters never last me neither, they leak within a month!

Joules...again alot cheaper but lasted as long as my hunters.

Every boot I've bought has never lasted me, apart from an old pair of dublin leather joddy boots that I used to use for mucking out in, them babies lasted me years and never leaked!

I agree with Le Chameau - i got mine years ago having bought, and taken back, loads of different wellies (incl. cheaper and more expensive ones) but this pair are great. They've put up with loads of abuse on a daily basis and are comfy, warm and waterproof-they show no signs of giving up the ghost yet!

I only ever wear Woof wear long muckers, they are fleece lined and I love them, I have had the same pair for just over a year and they are still going! I wear them everyday and ride in them too!
They are £44 and well worth every penny, Im going to buy another pair for this winter as the fleece starting to wear out but they dont leak etc!

Yup, my husband and I are lucky to get a couple of months out of a pair. I try not to wear them in summer because it is so expensive to keep replacing them!

I personally find it more cost effective to wear boots which cross as a yard and riding boot!

We are currently in muck boots and while they last longer than hunters, they still go in the classic place!

My le Chameau wellies are now 8 years old and still going strong, Hunters last me about 6 - 12 months - but to be honest I find them really poor quality, the soles are useless - very slippy and they wear out far too quickly. My Le Chameaus are great, superb soles so they don't slip and really tough but flexible outers.

Muck Boot Co boots are brilliant, I've had mine nearly two years and (apart from being dirty) they are good as new and the comfiest footwear I've ever owned - I wear them a lot!

I am a three month wellie girl, allways thought is was perhaps the horse poo and wee making the rubber persish. I can second the Muck Boot Co Riding wellies, they are vvvv comfy, vvvwarm and totaly water proof, also pretty good for riding in too. Mine lasted 2 years before going at the ankle, so pretty good for me. The only other downside is they are so comfy I tended to wear them in summer (whiffy!)

I am going to try some woof wear longs this year.

Gave up on wellies for mucking out in - I think its the constant treading in horse pee that makes the rubber thin and split !!

Now muck out in my mountain horse steel toe caps - they seem to be lasting much better.

Sophie - how is the fit on those WW boots? They look fab but I have CHUNKY calfs and would worry about them not fitting (which is one reason why I use muck boots - stretchy top).

They are velcro so you can have them as tight or as loose as you like, I love em!

My Hunters have got to be 3 years old now, and do not leak. I muck out in them everyday and if there are puddles on the ground I slosh my feet in the rinse off any ammonia. I want them to wear out so I can get a new pair, but they are refusing to play ball!

Good God - what are you doing to them!

My first pair of Hunters lasted years and years- current pair i have had for about 3 years...they are worn most days for mucking out and yard duties etc.... apart from in summer when I wear my trusty Hogg yard boots, which i ride in on occasion and have been known to go around thesupermarket in stenching the place out

I have a pair of Ariat Wellies which although aren't the cheapest last me for about a year before finally giving up (I am on my second pair), and I normally wear them almost every day. I have a pair of Hunters but find them too tight around my calf if I have my jeans or thick jods on. The only thing is I don't ride in them but would definately recommend for anyone looking for a pair.

Ive got Muck Boot Co Ones and they are brilliant!! I have a high instep and big calves and they fit me beautifully, also the added bonus of no more chilblanes even when slopping through ankle deep icey sludge taking hay out to dratted sheep!! Ive had them for nearly a year now and have mucked out 10 a day in them since the beginning, no sign of them dying yet, although my Dad had a pair 2 months before me and they have just died on him. x

Afraid my Hunters have let me down. Have had several pairs in succession (maybe I should learn, eh?!) and all have started perishing and cracking within a year of me buying them. I find myself looking for a new pair of wellies every autumn because last years are leaking.

Anyone else find the soles on the cheaper Hunters (£40/pair) extremely slippery? Mine are a nightmare to wear when leading a horse up into our lorry. I simply cannot get a good enough grip and keep sliding back down.

Le Chameau are the way forward

mine have seen many years of mud, horse pee & muck and are still going strong. The are so warm to. I also have Dubarrys which i love dearly and are nearly 3yrs old and look fab but i dont want to ruin them by mucking out in them
smile.gif

Hunters only last me 3 mths, so last year i bought a pair of Aigle wellies, they are fab! have worn them every day even in summer and the soles haven't started to wear yet.
I live on the yard so they are on my feet dawn til dust.

I have the horrid green ones that you get in cheap shoe shops

They are sooo nasty that they have lasted me for 5 years now.......

I dont wear them all day, but they are worn every day .... I dont think they will ever die, and they only cost me a fiver

ditto this recommendation. I've had mine for a year and they've had endless abuse! I can be wearing mine for about 5 hours a day up to 7 days a week (I work on a yard and then have another to do when i get home) and my feet are never cold and never wet. They really are tough, warm and comfy.
