Right, I have a saddle I borrowed, to see if fits ( doesn't) had sat around for about 2 mths, wasn't worried not really in way, anyway wish to have clear out. & the person I borrowed off I no longer want anything to do with at all. ( can pm if needed). I have tried contacting asking to pick up, but no response (2wks ago), though I'm not shocked as I'm guessing this person had to get new number etc.. Due to problems, so I can't contact, have no way to contact and I dare not ask around as trust me of a good idea at mo with horsey ppl
what should I do?

If you are sure contact details are right - I would send another couple of messages 1 asking them to contact you within so many days to arrange return
2 if no contact made within days stated send another message refering to original message stating that if you do not hear from them will dispose of within so many days
It would probably be better in writing if on fb maybe print messages - not sure if the legalities but nay get a response & after period is up reassess

You borrowed it, you should return it. You may not want to have anything to do with that person now, but were prepared to do so when you wanted to borrow something from them. Return it in person and then you are free to sever all contact if you so wish without any comeback.

Are they a member on here?

Was this calls/voicemail/text?

If you know someone who may know of them, you'd be best to ask around to see if anyone have contact info.

what should I do?

Essentially, you will have to prove that you took reasonable effort to contact the owner prior to you disposing/selling the saddle. A missed call 2 weeks ago won't really cut it.

If you do sell it be prepared for them to come back at you asking for it back, or its value - if you can prove that you went to all reasonable leangths to contact them, then you should be ok.

Post on local horsey face book groups asking if anyone has contact details. Send her an email/text message so you have proof that you made contact - and make sure that you include a timescale within the message. Ie If I dont hear back from you in 4 weeks I will have to dispose of the saddle.

Even more reason to completely cover your back.

Just drop it around to their house.

or this , if you know where they live that is.

No idea where they live only had mobile details, not sure if member on here (hence no names), I will stick few posts asking where this person is, but I'm not holding much hope as again I'm thinking this person has had to move.
Can the public access names/address on the election roll thing?

I am rather surprised by some of the answers on here. If someone borrowed something of mine I would expect them to return it, not get me to pick it up! It's basic good manners regardless of whether you've subsequently fallen out. To sell the item could potentially cause you far more grief as legally the item is not yours to dispose of. Man up, take it back!

I would hold onto it forever and a day until I somehow manage to track down/contact it's rightful owner. You can't just sell other peoples things, especially saddles.

I never mentioned selling or getting said person to pick it up, If I could drop of I would, but I'm
Kind of sat here hoping someone will either give me more contact details/address or the Person will turn up. I'm trying to return but stuck ... I've never been in this situation before so didn't know what I'm ment to do hence asking, suppose I could go to police and stick it under lost property if no contact in nxt 6mths, but doubt they will take it in.

Your OP stated you'd been trying to contact the owner to get them to pick it up which is why people have suggested you return it to them.

Personally I can't quite work out how this situation arose. Presumably you and the owner knew each other else they would never have leant you the saddle in the first place. If you can't reach them by phone, email or Facebook could you go to their yard (assuming they have a horse) and ask the YO for contact details? As RTE said if you can't track down the owner you'll just have to keep hold of it for the foreseeable.

I imagine there are local horsey facebook pages where you are? I suggest putting a post on there requesting if anyone can provide you with contact details as you wish to return the saddle safely. They may of forgotten they lent it to you, we have lots of tack and it's near impossible to keep track of lending..
