If you had a friend who was buying a horse that you believe isn't suitable for them (think novice rider and not novice horse) but they haven't asked you for your opinion, would you say anything?

I don't want to stick my nose in where it isn't wanted but i am slightly concerned as the previous horse she had has been sold because he is too big, unsuitable for her and i just see this one going the same way.

Would you tell her, FYI, this is a close friend and she knows her own nervousness, limitations so hasn't even jumped him.

So so difficult no help but IME whatever you do it goes wrong .

If she's tried it and happy and taken an instructor/someone experienced I wouldn't. If she has an instructor to help at home I'd suggest getting them to try horse first and see.
If nothing, as a friend, I would ask her why this horse? Does she click with him, feel he's suitable or just want one now? Explain your concern and say you'd be happy to go horse shopping with her.

I've never jumped anything I've had on trying

I would. Not all guns blazing, but subtle hints about is she sure its the one, is she looking forward to get straight out doing x with a nice uncomplicated horse etc. More get her to have second thoughts than tell her outright.

Trying to tell someone they and horse arent right together - impossible !
My OH ,as a horseman,[ and a very tactful one at that!] is often asked his opinion. When he gives it this is the usual outcome
a) owners or potential owners dont listen and buy unsuitable horse or keep unsuitable horse[ tho they need his help later- usually after a nasty fall!] b)floods of tears
All the best of luck - you ll need it! So many riders and horses dont 'match up'- I do respect the riders who keep gpoing despite falls/bites/knocks/broncing/bolting - rather them than me! Whether your friend chooses to listen is the real question....

Depends on the friend...
I had one who was keen on going to see a 4yr old wbx and I just said did she really want a baby, could she imagine herself just getting on it in the wet and windy and going for a hack on her own. She admitted that she couldn't and should wait untill a more suitable one comes along(a nice safe older cobby type!). She's really nice though and I think she was just getting excited and wanting to get the first one!
There are other people I wouldn't say it too though as I know they wouldn't listen and just do it anyway. They aren't really friends actually!
I think real friends do appreciate advice, I have friends who will say the truth to me about things and it always makes sense as they know me :).
