I finally reached the end of my tether, and I’ve sacked my trimmer.

Question is, would it be detrimental to shoe for a couple of cycles just to break the cycle of solar inflammation?

personally not shoe,i would wet feet and oil with olive oil on alternate days to relax and encourage growth, keep on soft surface, and use boots

could this be part of tartines problem in canter? and general unsettled way of going.

i said before the photo of the trim put up almost gave me heart failure.

it may not be short term resolution, but with the winter being wetter it may encourage growth, i`d let the feet grow in the direction they want to allowing them to spread laterally and not over trimming would be my plan.

hope you do get some good suggestions which in turn resolve other issues which may be connected to the trim. x

This is Blitz, not Tartine. Tartine has no issues with her feet, other than they are heading towards long toes, but she is, and has always been rock crunching!

This. If they are uncomfortable it affects their whole way of going and you may well end up with more problems further up. It's not a permanent commitment.

Although I’ve kept my horses barefoot, you’ve got to be pragmatic. My horse has had just one back shoe on for the past 6 months to support a vertical crack while it grows down, and it has worked a treat.
