Very simply....

Horse on my yard is on "full loan" to sharer as of May 1st. Loaner/Sharer girl has been trying to get contract signed for the past month. Owner is notoriously difficult and been playing silly buggers.

Owner has now said passport/chip number has both been lost. She also has said that the pony isnt "technically hers" (random)

Loaner/Sharer has access to microchip scanner (!!!!) which she bought down last night. Scanned pony.

I am betting that the chip is not regestered in her name (this is almost a cert, given the circumstances)

WWYD? Does loaner/sharer contact the real owner and tell her what is going on?

Yes that's exactly what to do.

Perhaps if the original owner knows whats going on, new loaner could deal with her and organise a formal loan, bypassing current difficult 'owner' completely. It's not her horse to loan out in the first place.

I think if the pony is registered to someone else, then they really do need to be made aware of what is going on.

yes contact the registered owner.

So what that the current "owner" doesnt know the number or have the paper work.

It wouldonly be a case of gettin someone, like a vet to scan the horse then contact the passport agency tp sort it.

It easy to get a duplicate passport if that was lost too.

The current "owner" sounds a bit dodgy to me, there is no excuse.
