I am moving my boy to a new yard at the end of the month for various reasons. I am also going to be sharing my friends quiet cob to get my confidence back whilst I am there. The problem I am having is what do I do with the Shetland I have on loan?
The livery if I move her is an extra £55 a month which isn't massive but I am also paying £22 a week to share my friends cob. There is a potential sharer for my horse but nothing is definite until I move him and he is settled so she can try him. I really adore this Shetland and she has been fantastic to have to keep my boy in his restricted grazing as he is lami prone. If I move her too I won't have to pay £85 to move him in the lorry cuz my friend could ride my boy and I could lead my Shetland and it will take about 2 hours to get to the yard.
My options are to leave her where she is but have to visit both yards which will cost time and petrol.
Send her back to her owners which I really don't want to do and I am not even sure if she has space etc to have her back.
Move her to the new yard and see how she gets on? If it gets too expensive send her back at that point? Or do it for a year and at the end of then either start riding my boy if I have enough confidence and give up my share of my friends horse or if my boy is still to much then sell him and just share my friends horse. Any of these ways mean I can afford to keep the Shetland too.
Anyone have any other ideas I may have missed?
Tea and toast if you got to here
