I have just finished day 2 of a 3 day camp - as I live only 10 mins away me and horse are coming home at night (don't 'do' camping!!).

Somehow he managed to pull a shoe off on the way home and obviously being a Sat pm would not dream of trying to get my farrier.

He is sound and as tommorows sessions are both on a surface, do you think it is ok to take him?

Having spent a lot of money on this weekend and making good progress, it would be very frustrating shame to pull out of the last day, but equally I don't want to risk his soundness.......

Can't make my mind up so wwyd?

I wouldn't if it was mine, but I know others that would so not sure, sorry

why not go and see what the instructors etc say when you get there? If it is a surface then it should not make his foot sore. Not sure about jumping and stuff though. when I was first a horse owner, Harry lost a shoe and I took him out for a hack.... he fell over! (we were on grass). Learned my lesson then so I personally wouldnt ride with a shoe missing now but thats probably just superstitious.

Front shoe and travelling in a lorry.

I have schooled him on our school before when he lost a shoe and was fine, but we will be jumping....

I wouldn't ride without a shoe? do they not have a farrier for the camp? they might know someone that could come out and stick it back on for you?>

Just go, if it is on surface your horse should not notice missing a shoe. If he is sore, you can stop and learn from the other people riding.

If his foot is ok and no nails etc in there and he's not foot sore I don't see why not! You'll know if he's not happy so take him and see!

Bring him along tomorrow. My YO will tack on a shoe in an emergency and it has got a lot of people out of trouble many times. There might be someone there who can do this for you and you would be able to take part. Yes, there is a risk involved so you would have to trust the person to know what they are doing.

Another reason to go tomorrow is that the instructor could still have stuff for you to do that doesn't involve jumping anything bigger than a x pole.

You have nothing to lose by turning up anyway.

Is your YO a registered farrier Zonda... If not I wouldn't going saying things like that on here
