Hi all
I have 2 rescue poms roughly about 4 year old. I have had them for about 6 months now, I had alot of issues with them then decided to crate them together which has worked very well with them. I work 3 12 hr shifts a week, my sister lives with me she also works 3 12 hr shifts. At present when both us are working the same days ( it varies from none to the same three days some weeks) my mum will come up and let the dogs out for an hr at lunch time then about 5/6 oclock my sister's OH will come in and let them out. My problem is that my mum says once the bad weather comes that she refuses to drive up the road (6 mins) I live in a rural part in northern ireland cant find any thing such as a dog walker to come into dogs, I dont know my neighbour. Do I get a kennel and leave them outside through the day till sister's OH finishes work or crate them separately with plenty of toys and treats ( they fight over them) until he gets in.

Thanks for reading

Not ideal but set up a puppy pen off their crate with a pee place and tie stuffed kongs to opposite ends.

So no toys but still chance for a pee & leave the TV or radio on.
What would you recommend leaving down for them to pee on ??? If I leave paper down it will be shredded to pieces and the bigger one off the 2 as a habit of eating poo (as been checked by vet think it is habit due to previous circumstances)

Do you have a utility room or suchlike that you can go directly out to the garden from? Can you put the dogs in there and then install a dog flap so they can go outside when they need? Then you could just fence off a small area of your garden if it isn't fully fenced already, or if you don't want them having the full run of the garden.

I wouldn't be happy with training my dogs weeing or pooing in my house at that age. I guess they are housetrained, and as such I wouldn't want them confused.

Spring feather I dont have a utility or any thing like that my house is small and basic ( 1st house lol ) the garden is fully enclosed, am not happy about letting the pee or pooh in the house as they weren't house trained and has taken the 6 months to crack that and they still have the odd accident , I dont think they would use a dog flap many a time I have left the back door open and they still do their business on the kitchen floor. That's why I was thinking about a small well insulated kennel, they came from a home that kept them in a coal shed in the garden, they dont like staying outside for long i dont know if keeping them outside would stress them out, am trying to talk my mum into agreeing to me dropping them in morning on way to work with their crate she has plenty of rooms to put them in, she has 3 of her own dogs a gsd bichon and yorkie pup, but as long as my 2 r crated and kept in their own space she wont even know they r there, am getting stressed out!!
