A very very good friend of mine ..is having problems .. She moved to a beautiful yard .. But was warned the yo can be a nightmare .. Friend owns a 4 year old cob .. Fat as a house leg at each corner type... The yard is assisted DIY .. Problem started to few weeks back .. Friend can't be there every evening ..so put the cob down to be brought in .. Yo got horse in ..and said the next day she struggled to pick his feet out ( he kept snatching front feet away) so she asked friend to leave a whip out next time .. Friend said look don't pick his feet out just sling him in the box and she we do them in the morning .. Next night yo brought horse in and picked his feet out and ' used her own whip on him ' :( .. It has now come to light .. Yo has been giving the cob extra hard food ( out of friends feed bin) now this cob gets light work .. Is as fat as a house and gets ab lib hay and two token chaff with supplement feeds to eat when the others r fed .. Friend is very upset .. And I can see why .. Yo says he needs more hard food because he is young ..and needs topline !! Wtf ? Wwyd ?

The shiny-est yards aren't always the best! Hanging flower pots don't contribute to the care of a horse! I think your friend needs to find somewhere else for her horse....

That's how teach mine I touch them with a dressage whip and say up when they lift the leg in a few days they lift the leg as soon as I say up before long they lift them when they see the Hoof pick.

However the feeding thing added to the fact that I doubt the YO was using the whip as a training tool (which is what I do ) I think it's time to find somewhere else ..

Tell yard owner to stick to what owner wants, just do the jobs she is paid to do, no interfering.

Unfortunately once someone is like this its hard to trust them and will they really mind their own business.

If not the leave.

Not necessarily, OP says both feeds are token chaff feeds for supps, yes YO has said horse needs more feed (I would be feeding a balancer personally) which isn't right but I wouldn't be so quick to leave unless it is abundantly clear that YO isn't using the whip as a training tool like yourself and I would do.
