Roughley how may hay bales are your 16.2 horses eating in a week?

i know bales come in many difrent weights etc, but on av how many bales would you use in a week? tis time of year!

4 small bales, he used to get 1/2 a small bale whilst stabled (3pm - 7am) and a small amount when turned out in the mornings.

We use 2 bales a day for 4 cobs and 2 ponies.

Thanks, just intrested realy i seem to use a lot more than others at our yard im using 4/5 bales a week some times i have got through 6! most of the girls on the same yard only use 3. just wondering if im odd?

Mine are on just hay at moment - living on yard so no grass - and getting through just over a bale between the two horses per day (Ix 15hh youngster and 1x15.3hh chunky tb)

My last boy (TB) got through about 3.5-4 bales per week and that was being stabled 5pm to 7am.

our two boys eat (between them) 1 bale per DAY!
but they get hay in the field as well as in the stable.

both get 3-4 pads in the stable over night, and the rest of the bale goes in the hay rack in the field.

My 4 yr old is eating about 3/4 of a small bale per day if she's in all day/night and about 1/2 bale if she's out during the day.
Stressage horse is eating 1/2 bale - she's still on box rest but isn't a big hay eater at the best of times.

5 or 6 bales a week sounds fine. 3 a week is def not enough if horse is stabled

mine eat loads of hay
we have no grass though
in at night
they get approx 1/2- 3/4 bale overnight then 1/2 bale in the day. each.

My 16.3hh easily eats a bale a day to herself.

Mine is 16h to 16.1h and she eats 3.5 to 4 bales a week!! Stabled from 4pm to 6am at the mo!

Mines a 16.3 warmblood and he is underweight so on ad-lib but depending on how much he is out between 4-6 bales a week (no grass anyway).

My 2 live out, they are smaller but they eat 4 bales a week between them

I'd be terrified to guess. T has an enormous haynet plus a rack full of hay each evening, and there isn't a scrap left in the morning....

At a guess I'd say at least a bale of hay a day. (overnihgt)

My current horse gets about 18lb of hay (he's in on box rest) and that's pretty much all he eats (give him more and he leaves it). He's a 16hh TB.

My previous horse 16.1TBx ate a good bale or more a day when she was in 24/7 - and still dropped loads of weight and looked hungry - and this was when hay was £2.50 a bale. My poor mum would hyperventilate back then if I ever told her how much £ it was costing per day!
