Hi there,

Does anyone have any x-rays of their horse's withers that they wouldn't mind sharing with me please?

I wanted to upload some x-rays to show you but I don't know how to as they are saved on my computer and not on a website (it asks for a url if you try to 'insert image'!!)

hi If you want to upload images to the forum you have to use a photobucket account.

This hosts the image that you download from your PC you then copy the IMG code and paste it into your post which will display it for us all to see .... hopefully

Thank you!

Fingers crossed!......

Have you had a diagnosis? I dont find xrays easy to read but looked at some to compare with yours and it looks as if yours are not great, possible fracture and some damage to at least two would be my view.

Your horses withers are in much better nic than mine:
This is what happens when a horse that is going to grow to become 17.2hh is raced as a 3 year old!

My horse is no longer ridden, and is in full retirement. He has too many impingements along the length of his spine to be worth operating on, and he started a course of Tildren but reacted badly and I thought we were going to lose him to colic, so he just has a bute if I think he looks like he needs it, and he lolops around his field. He's very happy. If he was in pain, we'd know as he wouldn't be full of the joys of spring all the time and he wouldn’t be so inquisitive, and he wouldn't be so greedy. (He's a wuss and if he's hurting he stops eating) He's in perfect condition and is completely field sound. I get lots of people asking me why he's retired, which is great!

Be Positive - My vets have 'breezed over' her withers to be honest. She has had her back medicated in three places (T12-14) but I wonder if that is a secondary effect to the damage to her withers.

I'm no expert but they just don't look right to me.

MissMincePie&Brandy - I'm sorry to hear about your lad but pleased to hear he is happy in the field at least. How old is he?

He was 9 when that x-ray was taken...so young :( He also has navicular, and has arthric changes is many of his joints - and all because his poor, soft young bones were hammered when he was still virtually a baby.

So she has been treated for KS further back, this does not look right to me but I am definitely not an expert, try posting this in vet, it will stay around for longer and the experienced eyes may be around later.

Be Positive - Thank you, I'll try that now too

MissMincePie&Brandy - Ahhh that is very sad for him. He is lucky to have you though.

My mare isn't even 5 years old yet. I just desperately want to get to the route of the problem now before it has an effect on the rest of her body as other areas compensate and are put under strain.
