it was just one of those days where it pretty much goes exactly according to plan
smile.gif
Only the 2'9" class, our second attempt at this height - our first go at 2'9" last weekend was a disaster due to arriving late, rushng to get ready, and forgetting all my plans! Cue several run-outs
frown.gif

But today I allowed loads of time, planned everything, and it worked
grin.gif
Bob was very excited in the warm up again so the lovely stewards let me go early, we were able to set off as soon as we got to the start, and he just flew everything without hesitation
laugh.gif
And the best bit was that I rode him positively, and it really worked well - we trotted into the double of rails at the top of the fence so I didnt lose my line, went through the timed section really quickly, slowed right up for the corner so I got my line again and he popped it brilliantly
smile.gif

The blip came at the water as I had realised yesterday when walking the course that we had never jumped into water before
blush.gif
It was two small steps down into the water, so I rode really positively and tapped him with the whip - cue a huge leap into the middle of the water, so I had to slip the reins and we missed the flags coming out
grin.gif
It was a bit frustrating as I am sure we were on target for being placed, but never mind - we wont have to jump into water at Intro, so time for some schooing before we go PN
grin.gif

I am so shattered now, but very very happy again

Sounds brilliant- well done!
What do they have in that course? I've been schooling there a few times now and love it there- just curious
smile.gif

I was there too! My horse jumped clear too but I jumped the wrong steps! I came up to them thinking oh crap thats a blue number! By then it was too late to figure out what I was supposed to be jumping so that meant the big E
frown.gif
. He jumped the corner and the steps in the water and everything though so I was still really pleased with the day

Well at the risk of being boring
tongue.gif
today was anti-clockwise so...

Rail to start, then log. Bear right through the stream and pop out over the rail afterwards, up the hill, then the Helsinki steps. Over a ski jump thing into the wooded bit, through the trees then out over the sleeper fence. Over to the steps, today it was the "big" step up on its own for the 2'9" people, so past the roll tops and over the log at the top of the hill. 9 a&b was a double of rails at the top of the hill, then canter downhill to 10 a&b which was a rail to a slightly narrower arrowhead (which was pretty easy as the arrowhead was facing away from you!) I nearly missed fence 11 which was a bit of a drop fence thing, then over the little trakhener. Nearly got carted off by Bob at this point
grin.gif
Over the middle log into the quarry, then straight ahead and up the 3 steps out. Turn left and go around to the parallel, then over the right-hand corner (NOT the big horrible one lol!) or you could jump a double of rails as the L fence. Sharp left to the open ditch, then turn back on yourself to the bank - just a little pop up and down it. Down the hedgeline to a little pallisade with a ditch in front (you cant see the ditch until the last minute, so lots of verbal encouragement by me
grin.gif
) then down the two steps into the bigger water. Out through two flags (or not in my case
tongue.gif
) and pop over a tiger trap thing, then turn right and over the tyres to finish
smile.gif

Hope you understand what I mean by all that, and can visualise some/all of the fences which I am trying to describe
smile.gif
I have been there so often I can describe a 2'9" clockwise course for you too if you really want

Thats a bugger I didnt realise you could do more than one class or I would have gone into the pairs or something too to give him another go, the collecting ring steward tried to send me off to the start again when we got back as he looked so fresh and well

Imagine you are standing with your back to the trakheners, looking up the hill towards where the steps are? The corners are just in front of you, with the open ditches to their left and the banks to the right
smile.gif
It is a little complex of fences which could be a 2'3" double of rails (one stride) or a 2'9" double of rails (which I think is a bounce?) with the 2'9" corner on the right (an 'open' one made of rails) and the 3'3" corner on the left (an enclosed one)
