Would you always go XC Schooling before you start the eventing season?
Haven't been XC since end of last year as been concentrating on our SJ instead. We're entered for Stafford Intro the coming weekend. . .

I do just because my horse is relatively young and inexperienced, so want him to have seen ditches/water etc before we go eventing.

What section you in at Stafford? May see you there

XC would be our strongest phase, or at least it was last season. Horse is 7yo, did 6 Intro's last year, completed them all.
KatB - We're doing Friday Intro

Ah ok, wont see you then, good luck! Stafford intro was a nice course last year, so if he has always been 100%, you may be fine without. I just like to for my mind more than anything so i know I am prepared, BE entries are alot of money so i like to give myself best possible chance!!

Thank you, good luck for yours too!
I'm 99% sure he doesn't need to school beforehand, it's more a case of whether I do or not!! No stone left unturned and all that??

I wont school Dexter next year after seeing how bad he was this year schooling! His mind isnt on the job and especially on a clinic he couldnt get a good rythym like at a comp. He is older though and has done more.

But I always school young and in experienced horses at least twice usually before the season.

I always try to. Im all geared up for XC training tomorrow, however heavy snow is forecast so Im doubting thats going to happen! And with the first BE of the season being in just 3 weeks Im getting a little worried. Although, there is a RC hunter pace before then so will run them round that at least.

Interesting to read this. We have Stafford intro next Sunday and was hoping to xc school this weekend. Doesn't look like it's going to happen with this weather.

We did get round the Osberton baby course in February ok (just a bit sticky at the water) and did a school the week before that so am praying she's not forgotten it!

I would like to do something. Normally it would be an unaff hunter trials as apart from Burgie the closest place to go school is an hour an a half away!

Hi Magic-Magpie

Where are you/were you going XC schooling? And where is the RC hunter pace?

I suppose of course this depends where in Scotland you are! A hunter pace is great, but they don't seem to be that common

I'd love to take my green horse to one before I splash out on a BE entry!

iv entered stafford aswel (sunday intro) and i have not been able to do anything with him since last season. All iv been doing is hacking out, schoolin, and showjumping. Its just 1 to start off with him anyway, we have never been there before, and we only did 2 events last yr and this is r 1st full yr.
